Somatics
« on: November 28, 2024, 08:08:40 PM »

I just wanted to mention Somatic exercise practice as its really helped me with menopause symptoms. For those who haven't heard of it, its about enhancing body awareness and promoting pain free efficient movement by also training the nervous system. Where i live i am able to attend classes in person, but there are lots of free classes online if anyone wanted to give it a go, I'd highly recommend!

Thank you for this,  never heard of it before, will look at it.

Please may I ask, what symptoms has it helped you with?

Hi Feather,

I've never heard of this but it sounds really interesting, is it similar to sort of mindfulness meditation?

Well,  what prompted me to post was that I am having a bit of an issue with VA, at the moment, got that “sitting on a hedgehog” feeling, but after my class I felt fine, no discomfort at all! It’s helped me with anxiety, joint pain, lethargy and I also sleep well

Discogirl- It’s slow and precise exercises called pandiculations which release tight muscles. It teaches you about brain / body connections and for me each lesson is like an hour of mindfulness!

Hi Feather - do you think it could help prolapse and/or urge incontinence?

I don’t know specifically but you can have consultations with people who teach this. Some people focus on particular problems and some take a holistic approach

In interested in this. I've had a horrific 7 years...still going. Now stopping all hormonal interventions as they just make me worse and I'm getting loads of 'reactive' symptoms - like stomach pain, when I try things.

Do u think it could help at least with my reactions? I've found someone nearby who does sessions.

Thanks
