Has anyone tried (or have any thoughts about) the new Randox blood sampling thing called Tasso?

Basically it gets around the problem of contaminated fingers for HRT at home tests by some clever device which takes it I think from your arm, still at home and done by yourself to post off. There is a video here: https://youtu.be/homXFrJZ1HI?si=xKY4fn0ghFp0O0Ug

Has anyone tried this and is it reliable? (Anyone know if Newson accept it? They don't accept finger prick tests. I guess I could ask them.)

It would be ssoooooo nice not to have to arrange blood draws...

Hi

I bought a finger test from medichecks for Estradiol levels before I realised they were useless. My result was 11000!

Then bought another try try using on another body area. I chose the upper arm because of capillary density there. Was careful for 2 weeks about not using the hand on that arm to apply my oestrogel. I cleaned the area very well. Then used the lancet and got plenty of blood. My level still came back at 2000.

I know this can’t be right because my previous level was 750 on twice the dose.


So I’m convinced this will work with anyone who uses transdermal oestrogen. Maybe it you just use a patch? But still not convinced.

I've not tried it but would be very interested to hear how you get on if you do.

I personally find finger pricks rubbish and very unreliable.

If you know someone trained in phlebotomy, there's also no reason they can't take your blood from a vein using a clear syringe and immediately decant it into the randox vial.

I tried it a few months ago. It was my first test with Randox. My results looked quite typical for me but I suppose the only way to know for sure how reliable it is would be to have a blood draw on the same day for comparison, which isn’t really practical! I wanted the results for my own records, it wasn’t for a clinic appointment.

As for the device itself, I was very impressed. Past attempts at collecting finger prick samples have been a disaster for me. This was easy and completely painless.

Zoe use them for their nutritional testing and, although it seems a faff.compared to a finger prick, it seemed to work well.

I have applied oestrogel for a few years to upper arm though so would always wonder if the sample would get surface contamination.

Ok, I'm going to give it a go. I've never applied gel to my arms so hopefully this should be okay....
