Oestrogel help?
« on: October 05, 2024, 08:02:57 AM »

So I was on evorel sequi 0.5 but at my most recent appointment on Thursday we decided to change to oestrogel and up my dose . So that night I started with 3 pumps . But I woke up this morning at 5am after an awful nights sleep with hot sweats? I had a headache all yesterday and I’m feeling like the gel is not even equivalent to the 0.5 I was on? Iv been looking at things all morning and maybe I’m rubbing the gel in too much or am too cold? I truely feel like it’s not absorbing and I’m going through estrogen withdrawal? I was on the patch for 5 months for context. Tonight I will try to have a hot bath and not rub the gel in so much but I’m not sure what to do? Should I up my dose more ? Has any one dealt with this and figured it out ?

Why not stay with the patch you know you absorb and increase the strength? You can absorb different products differently but this seems a bit extreme. Do you use anything on your skin that might be acting as a barrier?

No, i used it after a bath once my skin was dry. I swapped over from the patches as they were not sticking well and I was having alot of problems with breathlessness and what the doctor believes was anxiety. But the night sweats is new for me . I’m not going to give up yet but I’m not sure why it seems to be having no effect? Or less effect than the patch was having ?

Estradiol gives me a headache when I use vagifem.  I'm ok with the patches unless they are increased.

So what you've described strongly suggests a response to the oestrogen you started, or a sudden drop in oestrogen from not absorbing it as you thought.

How are you getting on now?

The breathlessness, does it happen on exertion or at rest?  I went privately to a cardiologist for lots of weird heart symptoms (not saying you have that, but they calmed down on evorel sequi, so the whole thing was peri and a number of years wasted with doctors telling me I had anxiety), all was normal, but I suppose I'm just wondering if you need a specialist check, if no other reason than to put your mind at rest.
