unsure what to do, issues with my hrt?
« on: October 01, 2024, 08:07:04 PM »

id really like some opinions. So in December i went to my doctor due to some missed periods along with a feeling of burning up at night and she started me on birth control Yasmin. At first this was great but by month 4 i was severely depressed so i stopped it. but a month later i was still super emotional and crying all the time, so i went back to my docter in june and she started me on evorel sequi 0.05.
Things seemed ok although i did notice some feelings of being off balanced, some hair loss and headaches but nothing i couldnt cope with. By month 3 i started to notice some feelings of breathlessness ,my review was coming up,due one week after my month 4 patch, so i noted it down to let the doctor know.
-as a side note when i put month 4 estogen only patch on i did have a few initial nights of sweats?
At my app the doctor didnt seem bothered by the breathlessness and said to start a diary to keep track of it ? but we did talk about swapping onto utrogestan, mainly because i was getting some bloating and over eatting and lack of energy during month one and two when using the conti patch. As i hadnt had the bloating on month 3, i said id stick it out another month and see if it settles but i was shocked she thought the breathing wasnt an issue.
Fast forward a wk into my 4 month estrogen patch and things had got really bad, my breathlessness was bad and my chest was very tight and heavy, the feeling of being off balance was there constantly and i had a pressure going up my neck into my head. I went to a&e ( first time ever and not a fun experience ) they ran ecg, chest xray and bloods, everything was fine but my heart rate and systolic blood pressure were high. They said it was probably the medication and to book in with my doctor.
Now i dont know whether its coincidence or not but about 4 days or so after this and on changing back to the conti patch the feelings started to get better, about 5 days into the conti tho i also noticed i was super anxious and also cried ( first time since i started hrt) . Right now the head pressure is gone, dizziness feeling (off balance) is only rare but my breathing (maybe heart) still feels off, especially if i exert myself ,im left panting for air even after the smallest exercise.
Everything seems to have got worse since starting hormones, my brain is functioning really bad, logic was my strongest point and now its screwed, im having trouble remembering words, spelling or concentrating . i finally got an app with my doctor this thursday and i think im going to ask to swap to utrogestan and oestrogel if she will let me but honestly im wondering if i should just stop hrt?
what do you think and if so should i just stop cold turkey or try and reduce out slowly or do you think i need to change doses etc .
very confused.

As you have the appointment i would ask for gel or a different patch with sequi utrogestan. If you have problems with that you can always stop and see what you're like without anything.

@dotty some back details. im 40 , my menstrual life has being good 29 days give or take a day, 2-3 days of light bleeding, no cramps ,  no bloating no pms. theres a possibility of undiagnosed endocrine dysfunction as i have been on opiate meds for over 25 years. in the last 10 years or so iv seen increased bone and fat lose, cystic acne, hair loss and very high libido. so its possible my testosterone was high and  estrogen has been low for a long time. this is just observational though as i never went to a doctors or had anything diagnosed.
