Hi, 52 year old and perimenopausal.
I've been on 2 pumps of Oestrogel and cyclical Utrogestan vaginally for the most of this year (I started HRT in Dec 2023). I increased to 2.5 pumps of Oestrogel in July, as my depression returned, the dose increase addressed that well.
Then my perimenopause symptoms returned a month ago (August), it was nearly at the level of pre-HRT. Had an appointment at my meno clinic about this. Now on 3 pumps of Oestrogel and continuous Utrogestan vaginally - no break, as this is used every day. My meno nurse said it's fine to use it this way. I've been on this new dosing for 2 weeks. I've been doing ok with this new dosing schedule, it's improved my peri symptoms and I thought the continuous Utrogestan would stop my periods but no, dead on day 28 since the first day of my last period (when I was using Utrogestan cyclically) I started my period. I'm now on day 4 of my period and feeling very low and hormonal and wiped our, not myself at all. The flow is heavy. I hope this continuous regime will be ok for me, as the cyclical stopping and starting of the Utrogestan I found challenging and bumpy.
*However, I'm wondering whether to stop the continuous Utrogestan and return to cyclical, is this causing me to feel low and wiped out this period?
*Why am I having a period, even though I've switched from cyclical to continuous Utrogestan?
*I was still having pretty much regular periods when I first started HRT in Dec 2023. Maybe my own cycle is still functioning, hence the period?
*How long does it usually take for a dose change of HRT to settle in?
*Is 2 weeks too early to expect a continuous regime of Utrogestan to settle in?
Any feedback or advice would be gratefully received. x
