Ustrogestron!!
« on: September 23, 2024, 10:07:53 PM »

Hi everyone,
I'm 64 and suffering pretty bad atm.

I saw a Menopause Nurse last week due to - Blood results showed Oestrogen too low.
(I was taking 0.5 mg - Sandrina Gel- now increased to 1mg for last 2 wks.)

I suggested to have the Coil fitted due to really bad side effects from Ustrogestron tablet. ### She was not keen on "fitting" the Coil and asked me to try (again!) Ustrogestron, but insert a tablet into my Vagina.
It's been horrendous  -  I cannot tolerate it - I still get the same terrible side effects which have sadly increased.
My questions are:
Does anyone here have the Coil fitted for Progesterone?
And, Does anyone use Progestogel (from France)?

Booblet, the French gel sounds virtually the same as my Spanish progesterone gel which is called Darstin.

I use Darstin every day with one pump of Oestrogel and it works well with zero side effects.  It's not supposed to work for endometrial protection at all but I find it does with a low dose of oestrogen.

A lot of women have a progesterone coil but if you are progesterone sensitive, it would be a good Idea to opt for the lower dose Jaydess as opposed to the Mirena.  You would need to have regular scans to check your womb lining with both these options.

Hi,
Sorry for late reply.
Thank-you so much for your reply.
Extremely helpful.
Regarding the Marina Coil  -  I has it fitted about 15 yrs ago and I was fine, however, I'm 64 now and apparently, as you get older your Cervix can begin to close up, hence, difficulties being fitted....I was told this by Menopause Nurse (UK).
And, yes, agree with your response to the Progesterone gel I mentioned.
Regards,
