Estrogen cream and gel moisturizer advice
« on: September 16, 2024, 02:46:42 PM »

I am on twice a week with the cream. Started to introduce yes gel to my regime.

I got my period after a 5 months mia this past tuesday. I am still spotting at day 7. Emotional, hormones are all over the place. So i am in peri.

I used the cream on friday and yes gel yesterday (it was heaven) today still spotting and burning.

Is it safe to use yes gel everyday, even on the days i am using the estrogen cream? I have not figured out the schedule yet for either.

I use it all together every day. Vagifem, Estriol and I always include the moisturiser. Moisturiser you can use as you want, your personal choice on how and when.

Ok this is great to know.

Yes is blowing my mind at how it works so fast. Instant relief. From being super uncomfortable and crying to being able to focus on other things. I did read somewhere that you take for a week than pull back to 3 times a week.

But it feels so good, the other gels i used caused really bad burning or stinging.

Ever since my period returned, i have felt more normal and returned to my emotional self. For 5 months i felt so pent up. Was barely crying.

I feel for the last few months i have been running hot all the time, was retaining water etc. Now i get cold even in 25 degrees. I feel i have lost majority of the water gain. I look in the mirror and i can see i slimmed down again. So it is a mystery what my body will do at this point.

Still do not sleep well and tired cuz i do not sleep well. Pulling coffee and wine was hard but necessary. I had decaf this morning but still had the running to bathroom with that to pee. No one tells you but there is still some caffeine in it. Small amount but has it. So i wonder if it is coffee itself regardless of caffeine. I have been playing with pulling things out.

This summer was alot of trial and error, drinking electroyoltes (sugar) not enough just plain water. Drinking wine to drown out issues. So no wonder my bladder was angry at me.

I am fairly active in life and in work (yoga teacher) this summer has been a hard summer for me. My students never knew how bad i was suffering. I am sure my anxiety over these things have not helped either. It is easy to tell others to relax but so hard when it is you suffering

Will use the cream tonight. Today was a hard day, i am so tired of being in off and on pain. It has only been two months of dryness issues. I do not know how i can live like this

This really is part of the menopause, you will have good days and bad days. Keep up with the treatment, don't have days off from that until you start to feel better down below.  You're still early days using the cream and hopefully you will feel the benefits soon.

As has been mentioned before, you have other options you can look at if you feel the GSM (Vaginal Atrophy) treatment is not enough.

I have to mention that i am in peri-menopause as i just got my period last tuesday (so the clock starts again)

My bladder was not this bad before starting treatment.

I took the cream last night and was up 5 times to pee. Oddly enough with the lack of sleep i feel i have some energy this morning. First day of no coffee. Or that it is cooler outside.

How is something i am taking making things worse and not better?

I was able to handle coffee, wine, electrolytes in my water only a month or so ago before i started any treatment. Now i cut out coffee, wine and adding anything to my water.

I am literally so confused. When i go up north for a few days to stay with my friend at least once a month. She has noticed a huge switch in my bladder. Ever since i started the treatments, it got worse.

i do not understand how i problem that i barely had before is now a bigger problem! Or does this settle down at some point?

Peri-menopause was not in the vocabulary when I went through the menopause, best thing I can suggest is do lots of research by starting here with placing relevant words in the search box. So many experiences written here of problems during peri.

Many of you may recall I am a hot yoga teachers which does not help matters.

But with a daily regime of the yes gel and vaginal estrogen 2/3 week. Today was the first time in months I felt amazing and was able to focus on my students. 5 weeks into using estrogen and starting to see some positive moments.

Can I take the cream and gel at the same time or in the am and than estrogen at night?

You do what is working for you. I have always used the moisturiser along with my Vagifem and Estriol. They all compliment each other in my experience.
Good news you are doing so well!  :)

The burning from the cream last night was unreal.

Monday i used my finger but last night was the applicator.

I had to yes gel this morning to calm the burning down.

Is this normal after 2 weeks? Will it go away?

No its not normal for it to burn like that and not uncommon. It might mean you need to change to another less potent strength cream or try a pessary.
So annoying when this happens!

I was on vagifem and flipped to this cream for the same reason.

My gps wants me to stop everything for 4 weeks. I am terrified of that dryness coming back.

My bladder has gotten worse with estrogen I general in the last 5 weeks. I am scared to stop cuz I had pure joy the last couple of days. But is that the yes gel?

I watched a videos on the cream how some irritation can happen in the first few weeks. So?

My vagina itself looks pink and plump which it has not in a long while. So do I give this another few applications or? Stop so confused

Those moments of burning like all last night into this am. Plus the yes gel to relieve it maybe if I had applied the yes gel after the estrogen the night would not have been so rough?

was able to feel normal the last couple of days. So is the estrogen working or…

The first time I used the applicator, the next two the finger and last time applicator. Wonder if that did something ? I don’t want to give up on the treatments cuz I would have to load two weeks again.

I really trully don’t know what to do. Stop altogether and the dryness comes back or wait it out a little longer.

We say so often on here about trial and error. You did say you were oestrogen sensitive and that could be the reason why you are having these problems, if you stop the treatment the symptoms will come back, from reading your posts you seem to have good days and bad days.
You can use the treatments any way you want to, its all about experimenting but I know there are lower dose oestrogens available that you might want to look into, I know some ladies here have posted about not getting on with topical oestrogen and perhaps a search on the forum might  come up with solutions to what you can possibly do.

Prior to all this I had dryness.

Now I have on and off burning, bladder issues, unable to tolerate coffee wine like I used too.

I used the yes gel this morning which could be adding to the burning this morning. Plus still hot outside

I only use .5mg of the cream if that maybe I used too much versus last Monday where it was a chocolate chip size on my finger

Yesterday was such a good day and the day before. (Just yes treatment days)

Had some water and took off the pantyliner and feel a bit better

It seems the bad days at least this week, are the day after I take the cream. Both Wednesday and Thursday had little to zero issues.

Tuesday was not great but eventually it all calmed down. Thursday night and overnight was horrible burning from taking the cream. It seemed to have calmed down now not wearing panyliners has helped immensely (the discharge from the cream and gel made me wear them)

I did order cotton Pantyliners so we will see if that makes a difference.

Both Wednesday and Thursday I was just using the yes gel and felt amazing.

I know alot on here advice to stay on the path, the burning will go away.

This was only my 4th dose of the cream or two weeks. But that burning last night kept me up and I could not get comfortable overnight.

I have tonight and tomorrow night to just use the gel again and I guess see how my body reacts to that in the next couple of days.

It’s been exhausting to see a difdence cuz all I feel has been burning so instead of the daily load of vagifem it is twice a week with the cream. I do not sleep well on the nights I load the cream, waking up, uncomfortable burning.

As I said the gp wants to pull me off everything but I am worried of the dryness just coming back. The drink coffee wine intolerant all came about when I started vagifem. Which made me pee all the time. Including a couple wake ups at night. The gel I think was the only thing that actually helped me.

I am damned if I do and I am damned it I don’t now. Though it seems the frequent urination has become a new thing and not something I had before starting estrogen. Which I thought it was supposed to help not actually create the problem.

I have stopped coffee wine, electroyoltes powders, and water with Himalayan salt.

I am really confused as to whether I should stop or not. Did anyone else have symptoms worsen? On estrogen? These are side effects? Not sleeping at night with the cream? Peeing more than ever, burning on loading days? Headaches…

At 8:30pm I feel slightly better only cuz it’s been almost 24hr since the last dose of cream.
