Bloods for menopause
« on: September 16, 2024, 01:52:21 PM »

Had bloods done last week for my hormone levels and has come back with a problem with my Androgens, cholestral and my liver function test.
Has anybody has Androgen problems? I don't really know what they are and how they are connected to the menopause but know where they are situated.
Any help please

The best thing to do would be to get your actual numbers plus the lab reference range.

I am guessing the androgen (main one being testosterone) result is raised rather than being too low, as the NHS doesn't regard testosterone levels down to zero as problematic in women.

What was the reason for the blood test?

Do you have any symptoms of androgen excess such as acne or facial hair, or a history of PCOS?

Hello Deedot and welcome to the forum.

I agree with Bombsh3ll,  you need to see your actual numbers and  reference ranges from the laboratory that did the tests. This information would have been sent to your GP and should be available on a MyChart app if you have it. If not you could ask one of the reception staff at your surgery to let you have a paper copy. I think all blood test results are accompanied by a reference range and for testosterone this includes a normal range for women.

I hope this helps and please let us know how you get on.

Hi.  MayB put 'androgen' in2 the search box on the forum to read any threads.

Do U mean adrenal glands?  Your GP or Nurse Practitioner should have contacted you directly!!  However it is known that results often get filed without any further connection with the patient!  >:(
