Still having a hormone 'cycle' when postmenopausal?
« on: September 02, 2024, 10:19:31 AM »

Hi all,
I am curious as to whether anyone else notices certain symptoms at similar times of the month, even when post menopausal.  I seem to have 3 weeks of reasonable comfort (I have VA which I am now treating with Ovestin estriol cream internally and topical progesterone).   But I hit the 26th-27th of the month and symptoms get uncomfortable again.  I usually get one day of almost period type cramps and my doctor tells me some women still have fluctuations and 'cycle' after menopause.  I usually have 3-4 days of horrible symptoms and then they lessen off again.
Just wondering if anyone else has anything like this?
Thanks.

It's more usual than women realise.   :welcomemm:  The ovaries may well continue to pump out small amounts of hormone for years after the final period.

Do read our threads on bladder issues and vaginal atrophy.  Which progesterone are u applying, as U can use the estriol cream inside with a small smear on the labia and vulva.  Every night if necessary.

Browse round.  Make notes.  Ask away.

Thank you!
I am getting used to the internal estriol cream. Luckily no irritation or burning - I started with a 1/4 dose to make sure there were no reactions first.
I am using Emerita ProGest topical cream which has worked nicely - nearly 3 months on it - hot flushes are almost non existent, weight lost, anxiety has settled.
I was using the same brand topical BiEstro estriol/estradiol combo cream which I think helped those symptoms too but wasn't enough for the VA.  Hence the Ovestin now.
