Too Late for HRT?
« on: August 22, 2024, 01:56:29 AM »

I'm almost 58 years old and had my last period 4 1/2 years ago.  Up to now I've managed without HRT but for some reason the sweats have got unbearable and I am having trouble sleeping.   I saw my gp last week because I had palpitations and fainted and I mentioned the sweating.  She is testing for thyroid problems but I think she is thinking of HRT.  Anyone else start HRT 4 years post?

Thanks

It's never too late.

The health benefits just may not be as pronounced the later you start, but in this context "late" is considered 10 years or more postmenopause.

You are also at a health advantage having had a relatively late menopause at 54.
