HRT in hand luggage

I'm flying to Italy in Sept and for the first time I'm only taking hand luggage so trying to make sure I get my liquids right!
I've looked at the rules on Manchester Airport website and seen that you can take liquid meds of more than 100ml with a px - that doesn't really matter as my oestrogel is less than 100ml.
But it doesn't say whether meds are part of your overall allowance whereby they will have to fit in the clear plastic bag along with all your other liquids. If I put my oestrogel in there I'll barely be able to fit anything else in!
Does anyone know whether it can be separate?

I flew recently from Stanstead. I had it in addition to my 10 items in the other bag. It needs to be in a clear plastic bag though as mine wasn't and they made me put it in one.

The hrt is in addition to usual liquids. Interestingly, out of all airports I've travelled theough this year, Manchester was the only one where they actually took my gel out for testing!!

This is interesting, I've had to put my gel in my liquids bag at Gatwick twice and Cyprus once . The lady next to me in the queue at Gatwick last time was also told to fit it in her bag.
You're right, not a lot of spare room left if you do this, I've had to ditch other stuff. Now I buy toiletries after security and leave them abroad to avoid the stress. I guess it's down to the person on security.

Thanks ladies - I'll put it in a separate bag and if that doesn't work it will have to be a trip to Boots at the other side!

Hi Flower Pot
I've travelled through various airports and always travel with them in a clear bag additional to my toiletries bag. I always pop the pink prescription slip in but they don't seem to look at it. Like K45 said, I had one of my HRT gels tested at Manchester too & I've never had it tested anywhere else.
Enjoy Italy

Hi Cookie25,
Thanks for your reply, looks like it should be OK so I'm going to do the same.
Can't wait!
