Biopsy
« on: August 19, 2024, 11:37:17 AM »

Hiya i'm going for hyterscopy today as when i had the scan 2 weeks ago my lining was 8mm and i had spotting 6 weeks after startingcontinous hrt. However the spotting has since stopped a couple days after the scan and none since. Could the HRT continous settled down now and will that help the lining. Worried is an understatement xx

Hello Wenj27 and welcome to the forum.

It may well be that the progesterone part of your HRT has prompted the bleed and your lining is now much thinner.  Fortunately
your hysteroscopy this afternoon will give you the answers you need.

Years ago I developed a thickened lining when I was using a combined patch ( Evorel 75 mg).
Fortunately there were no other issues and I was advised to lower the patch to 50 mg which did the trick.

I hope your appointment goes well and please let us know how you get on.

Take care.

K.

I wish you well this afternoon too, and would just like to say I have seen sooooo many posts on here with people sent for hysteroscopy with a thickened lining, and only one had an actual issue. So I think it must be really common for this to happen and women to get referred just as a precaution. X

Been for biopsy but have to go back as he says my cervix is tight and couldn't get in. I think he said so need to try a different approach. He did say he thinks it is hrt thats caused it but need to do biopsy to double check as the lining was 8mm. Honestly never had anybother in all my years  since starting HRT. It better be worth it xx

Who was attempting to 'get in' ?   We are entitled to a sedative or GA if requested which should have been discussed.

Unless they've seen irregularities I think the hysteroscopy is very much a belt and braces approach. Could you suggest they increase your progesterone and scan again in a few months instead? Might be a bonus - it hurts less that way  :).

Tight cervix is common.  I suggest ringing the Dept and asking for a copy of his notes.

Let us know how you get on.  sheila99's idea is a good 1!

Sheila i think its been an endometrial biopsy i was there for today as there was no cameras or that. The gyno did say they would need to use a camera to see where they are going and gave me little booklet on hysteroscopy. So this must be what I am going back for. He thinks its been my HRT but needs to check it out even for peace of mindeek!
