Cervical ectropion

Hi
I wonder if anyone else is similar to me as when I search on the internet, cervical ectropion seems to occur with young women or those on hrt. I’m 55 and post menopausal but I’ve been told my light bleeding after sex is a cervical ectopion which means high estrogen. This doesn’t seem to make sense to me as to why my estrogen would be high is I’m not on hrt. I did take hrt for three months at the beginning of the year though. Anybody similar? Bit worried they’ve got it wrong and it could be something more serious.

Is a cervical ectropion something they can actually see when they do an internal exam? If not, and you are post menopausal with bleeding, then I would push to get referred to be on safe side. I thought bleeding after sex had to be investigated anyway tbh.

The nurse spotted it during an internal check up. She seems pretty sure that’s what it is but doctor is double checking next week. I just wondered if anyone else had a similar thing when post menopausal and not on hrt.

Hi LizzieG6B,
I'd be interested to know how this went for you as I have just been told I have a cervical ectropion with the same symptoms as you and I am also post menopausal and 56 years old. My doctor prescribed me with an oestrogen HRT gel as I also have a slight thinning of the wall of the vagina but I don't feel I want to use the gel as from what I have read cervical ectropion usually occurs due to excess oestrogen (usually in younger women). Also I made it through menopause with no HRT so I'm not keen to start now.
Anyone else had this?
