Hi.
I’m on estrogen only, 100 estrodot patch and it is just controlling my memo symptoms. Which was good. But a soon as I went on it I started with other symptoms such as a word anxiety, jittery aching hands and feet breathless ness tight throat occasionally.  These symptoms have been going on for over a year  now and my GP just put it down to anxiety and put me on antidepressants   May last year I developed severe loose stools again they said it was anxiety. 
Did some research and figures perhaps I had estrogen dominance.
Went to a memo specialist and started testosterone. Developed white skin blebs and major flakey skin from my head after 2 months.  Blood count was 1.1. We stopped.  This clinic wouldn’t give me progesterone so I went to the leading uk clinic and was prescribe Utrogestan   I prayed this was going to help. Started on 100mg every other day then up to everyday. First day I felt really depressed and black thoughts. So I managed to split the capsule and that stopped it. But after about 3 weeks I started with really itchy skin tiny little red spots and mild red patches on my legs. Happy days not.  So Dr suggested trying testosterone again then introduce prog. back in later  6 days into this and flakey blebs and head. Me
Mean while still having the jittery aching anxiety symptoms.  Next visit it was suggest I had histamine intolerance but by this time it has got so severe that I can barely eat anything I’m taking DAO VIT C   Their nutritionalist has given me the taxoprevent and I’ve order them. I’ve lost 3.5 kg in about three weeks and I’m now 45.8kg. If I take more than 3 tops 4 loratadine tablets a day it weirdly drops my estrogen level. ( I have done this several times over the last month and I’m not taking anything else no antidepressants ). It scary when this happens as I get my original memo symptoms back - severe depression black thoughts and anxiety and severe muscle spasms.  I’m now at my whits end. I’ve asked for an emcee hence referral to an immunologist bit it’s looking like I’m going to have to be really poorly from lack of food before anything will be done
I’m trying so hard to see which foods don’t affect me quite as badly but it’s so difficult and I’m so scared. If I get it wrong and eat to much of something I’m pacing up and down the house or laid with my legs or body jumping and shaking   Against my better judgement I had a small piece of fresh from the butchers chicken and 1 small spoon of mashed potatoe. And I my whole body was shaking it looked like I was convulsing. I’d had 7  10mg larotodine tablets in the 12 hours up to eating it 3 of then just after.  You can see why I’m scared to death. I don’t know who can help. I’ve written all this down
So having rread load of posts my guess is it both meno. and estrogen that causing this.  I don’t know what to do. If I come of estrogen I’ll be suicidal if I go on prog I’m going to need antidepressants and some possible serious medication to stop urticaria, depressed now so hopefully going to start antidepressant shortly but my track record of tolerating then isn’t good.  I’m sorry to off load hear with such a long post and sound like it’s me me me   I’ve alwaysl been a person with empathy for others  cheerful full of life. As I know all you out there who are suffering once were. Any suggestions would be grateful. As my research has reached its limits

Hi does your meno specialist have a good knowledge of histamine intolerance. I have it and mine all comes down to my genetics causing me to naturally have high estrogen as opposed to progesterone and I also have issues detoxing estrogen so it all clogs up in my system.
I’ve recently started dim supplement and feel loads better but I’m also on cetrizine twice a day and famotidine.

Upping progesterone levels can help but utrogestan also caused me issues. You can try progesterone cream off the internet (see a thread in the alternative therapies section for more info on this, there are a few using it)

You could see someone who has more of a specialism in this and the baseline treatment is antihistamines (one type always works better than others for people so try cetrizine then loratadine then fexofenadine and one will help) and also famotidine which is a reflux remedy but is used for histamine issues. There are also other meds that help.

I see dr Tina peers if the google ‘the menopause consultancy’ - its private so costs but I was desperate at the time. I don’t think she takes new bookings as she’s so busy since covid as there are so many people with histamine issues but there are other doctors there that deal.

Quercetin is a good natural supplement and high dose vitamin C x

 No my memo specialist doesn’t seem to no much about it  I’ve got some frxofenadine so might give it a try. Bit scared. If estrogen drops and get the suicidal thoughts. I’ll look Dr Tina up.
The nutritionalist from memo clinic did give some good advice and I’ve order the supplements she’s suggested. I’ll check out the quercetin. To high a does of vit c has previously given an upset bowel but if I try and space it out. Just need to get my portion sizes up to cope with all of the stuff I’m going to take that says with food
Memo spcialist says at 57 ovaries won’t be producing anything and the last 3 blood tests came similar in the low 400. I don’t think our fat makes that much. X

It’s difficult to know if your symptoms are HI or indeed low Estrogen.  I now have very dry fragile  thin skin through lack of Estrogen and have developed eczema, I thought allergy at first but no it’s because of how sensitive and fragile my skin has become and now on steroid treatment.  I found antihistamines were making the dryness worse and didn’t help the itch at all.  We need Estrogen to produce collagen. 

It can drive us mad trying to find out what is causing all of our symptoms and spending lots of money in the process.

Before peri menopause symptoms and when your own Estrogen was higher did you have symptoms of HI? 

In early peri I started with hay fever, dry eyes, gum problems, joint pains, muscles pain, bladder frequency, all these symptoms would come and go but they would be there before and during my period when Estrogen was at its lowest but I didn’t realise at the time it was from my hormone decline.
 
It may turn out that it’s actually more Estrogen that you need.
