I'm 43 and 3 months post op partial hysterectomy, keeping my ovaries.

I'm seeing my gp next week as I have quite a few symptoms which put together could be due to menopause.
I had some symptoms before my hysterectomy but my gp didn't want to say I was definitely menopausal at that point and said to wait until after my surgery and then see her again if the symptoms are still there. Well they are definitely still there with some new symptoms too.

Welcome.  Menopause is literally, the last monthly period. 

Did any1 discuss your possible HRT requirements after surgery? Many Consultants/GPs don't seem to realise that women need to be prepared B4 signing that Consent Form!

Some find that keeping a mood/food/symptom diary of use.

My ovaries were being kept so they didn't discuss possible HRT requirements before the surgery

What sort of symptoms are you getting?

Anxiety is one of the big symptoms and is something that I haven't had before
Lack of confidence, low mood and very jumpy. Irritability and mood swings
Vaginal symptoms and groin sweating and itching
Bladder problems
Acne on my face including blackheads
Dry skin all over my body
Stray black hairs appearing in certain areas in my face

As oestrogen levels drop the body may become dry: inside and out; vagina, skin, deep in the ears, eyes, nostrils as well as muscles may become lax = aches and pains.

Vaginal atrophy - do read the threads, 4warned is 4armed.  It mimics repeated urine infection-type symptoms really really well.  Many GPs still dole out antibiotic treatment rather than sending off samples to a Lab to be 'grown' for a bug; when VA treatment would help.  ABs will ease any initial inflammation but won't replace the oestrogen.

Totally agree with CLKD, I was suffering persistent bladder issues and cystitis, had everything checked out, but it’s true, vaginal atrophy can be the root issue.

They started me on Vagifem and I also use YES vaginal moisturiser, and (touch wood!) no further bladder issues - as the Practice Nurse said to me, it’s all the dryness that causes irritation so if you can alleviate that it’ll help!
