Bleed at wrong time....?
« on: May 28, 2024, 12:51:06 PM »

Hi all

Just wondering if you can offer experiences and advice.

I've had a monthly bleed like clockwork on evorel sequi, in the last few months I've noticed I'm slightly flushed in the face at times and wondered if I'm getting enough oestrogen or on the low side.

Anyway, I had a very light period at the usual time, or thereabouts, the first or second estradiol patch for the month, but I'm only on my 3rd combined patch and have a really heavy period.  I don't know, I haven't been counting but it does seem about 9 or 10 days too early and it's heavy, like before I started HRT in 2019.

The only other difference is I've been trialling Estriol cream as vagifem does seem to give me awful migraine.  I've been using a mere dot of cream and mainly externally as I'm being really careful and building it up gradually.  The only effects I noticed was a slight increase in energy which as some of you know is a miracle occurrence for me, I wondered if it was helping to raise my testosterone slightly as I've also noticed arm hair returning.

Anyway all that is subtle and slight but could the Estriol have interfered with my cycle?

I know it's important to speak to the doctor when there's an unusual bleed and I will call them tomorrow.  It's just strange that there was an energy increase, such a tiny amount of estriol and really seems to have helped me overall, if it was that.

(edited to correct estradiol to estriol)

I think it's more likely to be your own hormones kicking in, they can produce huge spikes in peri. I found my own cycle was always stronger than the hrt one. It's unlikely to be the cream as very little if any gets in your system though some people ate more sensitive to it than others.

Thanks Sheila.  I'll be impressed though if I'm still peri as I've just turned 54.  It's true to say the last period didn't seem like 'mine' in that it seemed very light and more like people describe from hrt.  And we all needed to know that!  ::)
