Hi Dorothy,

Just a thought, but do you think it could be your new medication that is causing the problem with your skin?

Hi,
I really sympathise as I also have a weird sensitive burning skin thing going on.
I totally get that it's so consuming, I find it so distracting because it feels...odd.
GPs baffled by it.
One thing I have noticed this week is that it's much better when my overall stress levels are lower.
I would also love to find out the "why" if you ever find out  ::)

Minnie Mouse I totally agree. I find that my skin and body are much more sensitive when I am tired or stressed. I am prone to eczema when stressed and various allergies. The body and mind are more connected than we think. I find looking after my sleep and well being greatly benefits my general physical health. I have found good moisturisers to be absolutely essential in peri to avoid dryness and itching.

Thanks ladies xxx

Yes stress and skin.....very very much connected.

It's been my nemesis all my life.

It's definitely better when not stressed.....

But now in menopause its become even more hypersensitive and reactive...

I really appreciate your support.

I guess it's another thing to accept and add to the list  ::)

Soooo uncomfortable tho....I just want to crawl out of my skin! I was sat yesterday cutting out all the labels off everything I wear as they feel like glass cutting me.....jeez it never flipping ends.......

Xx

Just had a thought, you had a look at allodynia?

In brief,a hypersensitivity to touch. You saying about removing the labels from clothing rang a bell there, reminded me of a thread on a fibromyalgia forum about inability to tolerate tight clothing, and I don't just mean form fitting clothes, but even the touch of something even gentle  against the skin can feel unbearable. Nerve thing I gather.

Who the heck knows Sarah?.....

Just a guessing game ain't it.

I'm speaking to my gp on Friday....fat lot of good it does but I'm gonna ask for bloods to be done...thyroid, diabetes etc....rule stuff out..

Literally don't know how us women do this?!

Thank you for your help xxx

Hi

Just an update. I've even feeling better the last few days and dressed....burning calmed. I'm avoiding tight clothes going forward.

Skin still sensitive but it's better than it was.

I think this is just going to be one of those things now...

Thank you for all your help.

Thank you Fiftyplus.

Yes I think we can underestimate the power of stress on our bodies, and even more so at this time of life...

Take care x
