Hi all

So in February I increased my patch from 65 to 75. (,I cut my 75 down)
Now this 75 has never really agreed but thought I'd try again.
Well I had the worst side effect going! Floor moving, eye flash, nausea...went to A&E. Did all checks....fine.
I was riding along so fine on my 64 that I only tried the increase due to being curious.
It's 6 weeks later (back on 64) and I'm still light headed with a heavy head feeling, and jittery.
I did an online "ask a gynaecologist " question and he said any sudden increase in synthetic oestrogen can cause side effects lasting aroubd 10 weeks .
Can anyone here give me any of your stories with this and how long it has taken for things to settle again? I keep thinking I'm stuck this way xxx

Hi Vicky81 so sorry you're feeling so bad.

I am still experimenting with patch dose myself and sometimes I realise through symptoms that I have too much in my system.  What I do when I realise this and need to reduce it is whip off the patch and leave it off for 24hrs (if I'm feeling really bad) or overnight at least.  I then put a patch back on but at a lower dose that I was previously comfortable with until I feel my symptoms of too much have diminished (usually only takes a week or two) then gradually (over a few weeks) increase it back up to where I was comfortable before.  I'm not saying this is the correct way to do it but it's what has worked for me.

I wish you all the best and hope you feel better soon.

Hi Vicky - sorry you're feeling so bad.

I've been told 6-8 weeks minimum, and some say nearer 3 months, between changes (that was after a private GP 'specialist' encouraged changes way too high and way too fast) and I've  learned the hard way that fluctuating levels can cause at least as many problems/symptoms as the levels themselves.  So if you went up and then down again, symptoms may be to do with that.

I also think there's too much 'just try it if you fancy it' around for increasing doses - that's from some of the private GP 'specialists' so I understand the curiosity thing ;) ... it's probably better to increase doses only if previous dose didn't help symptoms at all or only helped a bit?? Just thinking aloud here ...

That said, we're all different and have different reactions and absorptions - for me, whipping it all off for 24 hours would definitely be too big a fluctation, but it works for MillieMoo :)

Hopefully things are settling now that you've been on the same dose for a while.

xx
