Ouch - removing estradot patch
« on: April 03, 2024, 05:21:33 PM »

Using hairdryer to heat skin before applying patch to stomach and it's working a bit too well. Leaves red marks when remove, worse than waxing! Anybody got tips to remove some of the stickiness before I attempt to detach from my skin?

ouch!  sorry to hear that.  I've never had estradot but did have lots of evorel patches I had to change frequently and hated the black/sticky residue.  I was recommended baby oil to scrub that off, but I also saw a video somewhere that suggested putting baby oil over the patch ie when it's still on - just using cotton wool or something.  Put it on quite generously then some of it soaks through and then was easier to peel off.  I started doing that and did help with red ‘pull’ for evorel … Hope that helps!  x

As mentioned above, oil and cotton wool will remove the sticky residue (I use olive oil), not sure if it helps you to remove the patch though. I'm using Estradot and find they stick really well and there can be a redness when I remove the patch but it quickly goes away. When I was using Estraderm the patches would fall off if I used an in-shower body conditioner, Estradot seems to be impenetrable, you just have to rip it off like a band aid.

Ouch indeed though Estradot patches are tiny! I've always stuck patches to my butt cheek, and just peel them off gently. When I can be bothered (not often) I remove the black marks with rubbing alcohol (I used to use baby oil but it takes longer and also didn't want to risk creating a lasting barrier between my skin and the patch, which could impede absorption). Also I have always peeled patches off very slowly. Never used hairdrier either for sticking on or unsticking. A warm hand pressed on the area for however many seconds, should do the trick, and then when covered in clothes your body heat should help keep it on! I've used Estradot, Estraderm, Elleste, Evorel.

I got a bit of an itchy reaction for a few hours last week but when I think of it, this was after I used baby oil to remove the marks after I removed the patch. That area is still a little aggravated .So maybe it was a reaction to the baby oil and not the removal of the patch. I'll experiment and see what happens.
