Muscle aches
« on: March 08, 2024, 08:54:31 AM »

Hi ladies
Does anyone else suffer from muscle aches? I was on Everol patches but had to stop them as I had an allergic reaction.  I seem to have a lot of different symptoms and was considering trying another sort of hrt to see if it settles my symptoms. It's awful going through the change you just want to be yourself again 😕

As oestrogen levels drop muscles may become lax = aches and pains.

There are several types of HRT so mayB discuss options with your GP or Nurse Practitioner?  In the meantime, taking pain relief may help.

I have bursitis in both thighs  >:( which wakes me in the early hours.

Thank you for your reply. I'm definitely going to maybe try another kind of hrt patch and see if that helps 😊

Yes. I have fibromyalgia but the muscle pains got significantly worse when peri hit, to the point of being life affecting. Adding testosterone made a big difference x

Had lots of aches, plagued throughout last year with it. It all got so bad that I completely re-booted my life in January.
Overall body feels much better (on same HRT) after 2 months of:
Daily 20 mins exercise, sensible 'get things moving' stuff.
Total food divorce from family - I now eat like a caveman, veg, beans, nuts, less meat, no processed, no sugar (I still allow myself the wine  ;D ;D).
Supportive trainers, all the time.
Trouble is, doing all this means I don't know what is really making the impact, but something in the above list is!

I've noticed a lot more aches pains and generally going down hill this winter, not on HRT but put it down to ageing and wear and tear. The damp cold weather here in the UK has a big involvement with my mood as well. Taking vit D which does help. My cure is a couple of weeks in the sun, went at Christmas and the difference was amazing, aches just vanished overnight. I'd only been back for 2 days and was aching and stiff again. Off again next week so will see if it makes a difference again, if so will be thinking if doing longer trips next winter especially Jan and Feb.

A friend of ours with rheumatoid arthritis spends the UK Winter months abroad, his symptoms disappear completely  :)

My paternal grandad could feel rain in the air as his knees and elbows were painful about 3 days prior!

Totally get this, damp cold weather is just a nightmare for the joints.
I also in my last few Peri years have become very, very daylight sensitive.
I had a trip to Lapland that made me freak out with the absence of daylight, I kissed the ground when I got back to UK.
