Replens side Effects
« on: March 03, 2024, 04:56:51 PM »

Hello. I tried Replens for the first time exactly one week ago to hopefully help redness and irritation down there. I've now got a discharge resembling porridge (sorry).  Is that normal or has it given me thrush? X

I understand a weird discharge is normal for Replens. Some folk don't get on with it. Perhaps try something else? The Yes brand is popular.

Thanks Joaniepat. I won't be using it again but wondering if I should be treating thrush or just wait for it to clear itself x

Perhaps you could wait a while. Hopefully it will clear itself out.

'yes' or 'sylc' products have good reports on the Forum.

Replens isn't for everyone. It certainly won't replace oestrogen.

R U able to share which symptom/s you would like to ease? In the mean time, do read the 'bladder issues' thread and vaginal atrophy threads.  Make notes ;-)

Vaginal atrophy symptoms can be controlled with regular maintenance treatment.  Let us know how you get on.

I already have Vagirux but felt I needed something for external discomfort so bought replens. I've since got estriol cream which will hopefully help. Just not sure if the replens aftermath is normal or if it has disagreed with me, hard to know if the external discomfort I have now is the same one that I was trying to resolve or a thrush symptom from replens use. I'll maybe give it a few more days then get fluconazole if it's not improving. X

I had the same thing when I used the Replens a few years back, never again will I use it. I would hold off of using thrush treatment for now.

I use Vagifem and Ovestin cream. The estriol will help, may sting at first but that will calm down.

I've used replens in the past and after a few doses had discharge. I think it's normal, it's the dead and dry cells coming away. I'm using it again temporarily.  No discharge as yet. It doesn't give me any irritation though.

I wouldn't touch 'canastan' products again, when I thought that I had 'thrush' and inserted a pessary the burning was intense and I had to sit in a cooling bath for several hours.

IMO I think that you should use appropriate vaginal atrophy treatment internally with a smear of 'ovestin' or a moistoiror on the outer labia for 2-3 weeks which should help.  If we put too much product down there we won't know what is/not working.

Let us know how you get on.
