Oestrogel
« on: January 07, 2024, 10:44:26 AM »

I have been on estrogen 100 patches  for  15 years after having a full hysterectomy at the age of 30. I generally have been ok apart from the occasional ups and downs. For the past 6 months my symptoms have come back headaches, anxiety, depression, brain fog and hot and cold symptoms. My consultant did bloods and it showed my estrogen was 65 and testosterone was 0.2. Which is extremely low. I also had a bone scan which showed oestopenia.
I have been put on oestrogel and testosterone. I don’t seem to be getting on with the oestrogel as it upsets my stomach and seems to make me more anxious. I tried stopping for a month to see if it was def causing stomach issue and it stopped but when I went back on it came back and I just don’t feel right on it. Has anyone else had issues on oestrogel? And what did you do?

Hi Loopylou,

I haven't had any stomach issues on Oestrogel, but I have had issues with it not working.

IMHO I would suggest trying Sandena instead. It is a gel.... you might still get stomach issues, but maybe not the anxiety.

Good luck x

Hi - yes personally I had loads of issues with Oestrogel despite being on it for over 20 years with the original version with no problems at all but since the shortages something in it has definitely changed and when I went back on it I did not absorb it at all in fact my oestrogen level was 55 pmol so as  my Meno consult said I might as well not be on HRT at all.  I was changed to estradot patches.  I have seen several posts on here with other ladies having problems with Oestrogel too.  You are not alone x
