Ladies - did you start on half a patch or a full patch to begin with?

I started on a full patch, took a few weeks to notice any difference, first thing to go was the hot flushes.

How long have you been without oestrogen? They advise that if it's been some time you should start low and increase slowly so your body has time to adapt.

I had my last period over 2 years ago - so would that mean that is how long I have been without estrogen? - sorry if this is a stupid question but this is all new to me - I have only started using ovestin and really thought I was through "the change" but tbh it is only just the beginning with the vaginal dryness - the worst symptom for me has been saved to last ... do you know if the patches would help with low mood, low energy & no libido? x

Two years isn't so long. It diminishes over time rather than stops completely even though there isn't enough to produce a cycle. I'd say you should be OK on a full patch but if you're worried about it you can start on half. It should help mood and energy. For some libido returns with sufficient oestrogen, others find they need testosterone too.
