The first time I took utrogestan orally I almost went to A&E with the pain. I guess it was wind and heartburn, but it felt like a heart attack, I couldn't even breathe. After a few more days it settled down into just bad wind pain and feeling very wired and hyper.
I listened to a podcast recently where the doctor said progesterone given locally has ten times the effect per dose on the endometrium as progesterone taken orally. So a lot of them are saying, take half the dose and it's plenty.
However, the gynae at the menopause clinic told me it must remain 200mg per day for 12 days vaginally as nothing has been proven.
I was been taking 100mg vaginally instead and she was pleased how thin my uterine lining was, I think she believed I was taking 200mg.
