Itching
« on: January 28, 2024, 06:06:41 PM »

Hi all

Ive been suffering with all over itching for a few weeks now.  Its especially bad in the evening.  My face is so sensitised that if my hair touches my face, or water drops onto it, it is itching/tickling.  (the facial thing is similar to what I experience when IU get hay fever).

I've done a search on here, and there are a few threads on itching and crawling skin, and low oestrogen has been mentioned.  I am on HRT and have been for some years. My last set of blood tests showed a good level on oestrogen.

Im trying to think about what's changed for me recently:

I upped my utrogestan in November of last year, at my meno specialists request;
I had covid at New Year.  -- this was my second episode of this infection, and manifested itself as a bad cold.  Not nearly as bad as the first time I had it in 2022.

My health anxiety has kicked in, and now I am imagining that I have liver disease or diabetes. :-(  (this has probably been exacerbated by the realisation that it was this time 4 years ago, that my older sister got diagnosed with Lung cancer, when she was exactly the same age as I am now).

So, has anyone had a similar experience with COVID or utrogestan?

Many thanks

It's known that Covid interferes with hormones.

When I had it in July/August I began with a cold and thought nowt of it, until DH began shivering  ::)

4 me itching started after my periods stopped and I believe can be due to low oestrogen.

I used to have a really itchy scalp and dry eyes, I got told Omega 3 can help.  I take Seabuckthorn oil capsules (which contain all the omegas) and a daily antihistamine which has helped me.

thanks for the reply.  I have thought about taking and antihistamine to see if it helps, but is it okay to take them long term?  I'll look at the omega 3 too :-)

Have a chat with a pharmacist about long-term anti-histamine use?

Let us know how you get on.
