Vagifem and Vagirux
« on: June 24, 2021, 10:18:20 AM »

Hi. Has anyone used both of these and found a difference in reaction? I am newly back on Vagifem after initial struggles with the Vagirux applicator, then resolved, but feel as if the vagina is having to adapt to the Vagifem again? Are the compositions of the pessaries different, do you know? Thanks!

Hi Postmeno3  :). As far as we know the ingredients are identical, but who can ever really know! I think you are right, it's a question of adapting again, but hopefully that won't take long.

Thanks, JP! 😊 Font of knowledge as ever! P.S. Am still having a reaction to returning to the Vagifem even though the composition is declared identical on the patient information. It just shows how little it takes, sometimes, to be thrown off course. Especially in these early days, I imagine. I seemed to be doing very well on the Vagifem so hopefully it won't take long to get back on track. All very interesting, meantime!

Just tried vagirux again today and had to take the tablet out as it was burning me inside. I tried this a few months ago then started with thrush for the first time in years so stopped and used vagifem again. The ingredients are identical but something is not right, maybe the coating is a different measurement and more of it.
I asked for Vagifem specifically on my repeat now and get them but thought I'd try vagirux one more time to confirm it wasn't just coincidence last time.

Same here Dierdre, they can tell me it's exactly the same all they want,it's NOT and there are hundreds of women saying the same,it's half the price of vagifem,so clearly it's cheaper ingredients 🤷‍♀️ my Dr now specifically puts "vagifem" on my prescription

Oh well, your comments give me armour if I ever get changed to Vagirux.
I will be moving to a new area in the new year and I have the feeling I have been spoilt by my surgery over the years, knowledge is power going forward!

I've read on another thread(s) that some ladies were having problems and said it could be due to fillers or similar (sorry, can't remember exactly what it was as it was a while ago), but some ladies are having problems.

Yes, it could be the same ingredients, but could be cheaper ingredients in one of them and that is what is causing the problems.

And is it exactly the same? Same percentage of each, or does one have an extra ingredient?

(Hope your move goes well Ayesha.
When we moved i packed what i could at leisure but paid the removal people to do a lot of last minute packing. It saved a lot of stress = vulva pain.  It was worth every penny.)

You just have to look at the Vagifem packaging to know that it's expensive to manufacture, plastic is very expensive and there is so much in one packet.
It's very disappointing to read that some women are having problems with Vagirux, a product that is supposed to be identical to Vagifem, therefore it must be to do with an ingredient in the mix that is not suitable to all.

Thank you Minusminnie. We are getting quotes now from removal people and will be letting them do most of the work. We will pack clothes and smaller items but need it to be as stress free as possible.

I think it's the coating. I'd only inserted it 10 minutes when it started irritating and burning. I removed it and straight away the burning stopped instantly.

My current prescription is vagirux. I'm fine, no difference to the previous vagifem. I never know what they're going to give me. It's pot luck.

I had 2 months supply of the generic Estradiol in the white box with just Estradiol wrote on it last year and was fine with that, no difference. Tried vagirux twice now and both times couldn't tolerate it. There must be something in it that doesn't agree with me. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Ladies,if Drs or pharmacists PERSIST in telling you, there's no difference, take these posts and show them what women are saying, when you mention this forum, sometimes it makes them listen a bit more 🤷‍♀️
