Apologies for my misunderstanding, Jules
you were indeed given dreadful treatment at your NHS trust and it's so worrying how things are turning out with our health system.

It is worrying. I always say, don't accept anything you're told without question and speak up for yourself or you'll be forgotten

Does anyone have the lump in throat thing? Whats it like for you?
I've had the feeling of food, like I'm full but tonight I have what feels like my throat is closing (its not obviously)
Really fed up now.

That is likely mucous triggered by the reflux to protect the area. Try eating/ drinking something and it should go. Bananas are very soothing, as is oatmeal.

I also buy Pukka Aloe Vera juice from The Natural Dispensary and have a swig of that 4 or 5 times a day, followed by a teaspoon of Comvita Manuka Honey, as high a strength as you can afford, from Amazon. Clears it up pretty quickly.

Views are mixed on this but if I'm having a flare up I switch to drinking Actiph water, which has a higher pH than normal water. I buy it in multi packs from Amazon. I do find it helps.

Aloe Vera and honey are natural healers, the former used in kitchens to treat burns.  1 breaks off a small piece of leave which has a gooey sap to put on the affected area.

Aloe Vera helps joint pains too.  Though apparently it has a nasty taste  :-X  :-\

Honey is a food that never 'goes off'.  Dad would give me a small spoonful if I had an upset gut.

I remember this feeling of a lump in the throat when I first started to suffer reflux. It soon past when the Omeprazole started to work and I haven't experienced it since

The Pukka one doesn't, it is quite neutral. That's why I mentioned that brand. When it was out of stock in local health store, I tried their alternative and it was awful, really bitter. I don't know another shop that stocks the Pukka one but it is still available online. I also use the Jason Aloe Vera high % gel as an after sun,  you are defo right, it is very good for burns and cooling skin in general. I think that's why it helps heal the throat with silent reflux.

The lump in the throat feeling is a very common side effect of silent reflux apparently.  So is clearing the throat all the time.

I've had every symptom going in my digestive tract. I once had that feeling as though I couldn't swallow. I thought i was a gonner. The doctor told me it was spasm and that i have a sensitive/ irritable digestive system. My speech and language therapy friend said the same. Your digestive tract is one long pipe. Just like you can get spasm in your colon you can in your oesophagus and apparently acid going the wrong way can cause it but also stress. Once I was told that, it soon relaxed and went. Of course, if you have other symptoms alongside, eg food not going down, weight loss, bleeding, you should get checked.

I dont have any red flag symptoms (I think) but this is finding this very uncomfortable. At night it's like my mouth has no saliva.

Just go back to your GP if the omeprazole doesn't improve it.

I've had 2 weeks of stomach discomfort and it takes over my mind because not only is it unpleasant but I get anxious and that makes it worse.  Its finally settled. Try some relaxation exercises before bed. I used to use the short relaxation exercise on here. About 12 minutes, downloaded it to my phone and put my headset on. You've to ignore the American thing. It did help. https://students.dartmouth.edu/wellness-center/wellness-mindfulness/mindfulness-meditation/guided-recordings/deep-breathing-guided-relaxation
