Possible causes of 'lump in throat' sensation could be thyroid, GERD, or also low ferritin.  Look up 'low iron without anaemia'.  Best to get some bloods run with your GP.  I had this and whilst I do have a couple of small nodules on my thyroid, it turns out my ferritin was low (even though in range) and this feeling disappeared after starting iron supplements.  Best not to supplement iron without having the bloods done first, as too much iron can be a bad thing too!  :)

Will definitely check it out. Thanks for your reply  :)

Glitterbox, please do get this checked out. I have two friends, one of whom had what she thought was lesions on vocal chord and the other of whom was just having difficulty swallowing, as if she had a lump in her throat. Both were of typical post meno age. Both were diagnosed with cancer, one of vocal chords, the other of oesophagus. I'm sure its not that but I now am on a mission to not ignore lump in throat feeling....just in case....
