It may be that utrogestan isn't licensed for vaginal use? 

Teresa : that's the advice that I always give, a dedicated menopause specialist, not a gynae because they often don't now any more about menopause treatments than many GPs  >:(

I told her I knew it was off licence but it was prescribed that way by many GPS.
She wasn't having any of it. Even though my period has been OK for 5 months.

GPs with little knowledge often won't budge - there's also the fear that they will be sued.
