Menopause and childless
« on: July 18, 2023, 12:14:42 AM »

Hello everyone,
I am recently 45 and my doctor confirmed I was in menopause on Friday after blood tests and a variety of symptoms including stopped periods.
I have been finding some of the symptoms very difficult but also as I was unable to have children, reaching menopause has also brought back the sadness, the finality. also the worries and hope of wanting to feel better physically and more positive.
I collect my prescription tomorrow, he has prescribed the two pump gel and progesterone tablets, he said this is low risk for blood clotting as I had a DVT when I was 20 due to the combined pill.
Is anyone in a similar situation to me, taking the same meds, did anyone else feel sad when they reached menopause?

Hello MrsBigHair and welcome to the forum.

I can understand this has brought up a lot of sadness for you. It will be a reminder of many things. I do not know how you feel about therapy but perhaps this is something to consider.

I started peri at 38 and am also childless. It has been difficult in the sense I feel old before my time. I feel my mind and body has aged a lot and I think this has made my self esteem lower. You are not alone.

You will find lots of support on here. It is such a friendly and welcoming forum. :)

Good morning Flossieteacake,

Thank you for replying to my post and your warm welcome 🤗
There is comfort from not feeling so alone with it all.
I think you are right, revisiting some therapy options could be good moving forward
I totally get what you are saying about your body and mind feeling old before it’s time and a lower self esteem as a result.
As women we can be brilliant at lifting each other up.
I am pleased you have found the forum so supportive and I hope that it has help d to lift your self esteem too. 🫶🏻

You are most welcome. :)

I do not know anybody going through peri or meno in real life and this forum has taught and helped me so much. :)
