Author Topic: Horrible PMT symptoms when reducing Blissel Gel after loading dose?  (Read 1900 times)

Hi wondering if anyone can help please. I have been on daily Blissel for about 5-6wks now and have been advised to reduce it to every other day now. So I missed a dose on Saturday and then had a dose last night. Woke up this am with horrible ‘period’ cramping, some spotting and lower backache. It’s lasted all day and I’m miserable!

Now not sure what to do. Persevere with the alternate days and assume it will settle down? Or go back to taking the Blissel every day.

I wouldn’t have thought missing one dose of such low concentration of HRT would make any difference! Depressing how sensitive I seem to be to even tiny fluctuations.

Thank you!

I am not sure why this has happened but I remember you have had quite bad VA and I would think it may be too soon to try to reduce the Blissel. It is very mild and I think missing a day can cause you to feel sore. I would carry on taking it everyday and see if you feel better. If so then you will know the cause.

Do not be in any rush to reduce VA treatment. Many of us need to use it daily, me included. It is safe to do so. :)

Thanks - tbh the main reason I missed a day was because I found out I definitely do have thrush and wanted to use the internal cream. Someone said you shouldn’t use topical oestrogen at the same time?

I also thought I could use it as an excuse to cut down to alternate days. Again, mostly because the GP will only prescribe one tube a month and it’s not enough. Have had to pay £39.99 each time for an extra tube

Oh I see. I can understand why you missed a dose then. Have you tried an oral thrush pill? This will not interfere with the Blissel.

I remember your GP is very ignorant about VA. I know it is hard but I think you need to persist with getting enough for you to use daily. I get prescribed a tube of Ovestin every two weeks for example. I have to use it daily or my symptoms are too bad for me to cope with. It is not fair for you to have to pay such a lot of money to buy the extra you need.

Thanks - I’m seeing her again at the end of July so will beg for 2 tubes a month. Seems silly for that to be the only thing stopping me having the treatment I seem to need.

I’m in a bit of an emotional mess at the moment as I’m now unsure how much of the burning and itching I thought was a flare of VA was actually just thrush. Health anxiety to blame again!

I should really take an oral thrush pill but have reacted badly to those in the past so am reluctant

If you have reacted badly to the oral thrush tablets then I would not take them. If the cream usually works for thrush then I would carry on with it. Thrush is painful and once that goes I am sure you will feel so much better. I am sure it will go soon and then you can carry on with the Blissel.

Did you react to Ovestin? You first tried that but are now using Blissel.

Thanks Flossie - yes I was on ovestin but it brought on migraines. Ridiculously fragile, me! I was happy on the Blissel. Until I messed with the programme!

I am very sensitive to medications too so I understand how annoying it is. Once you get rid of the thrush you will feel so much better. I hope it goes soon.

Thanks so much. I’m not sure how long it usually takes to knock it on the head?

I think they say it takes a week to clear up thrush. I have found it takes longer for me though. I find the oral pill better then the creams but I know other women find the creams work well for them.
