Breast cancer survivor looking for help
« on: May 03, 2023, 02:15:20 PM »

Hi
New to MM and was wondering if anyone can give me advice.

I was diagnosed with breast cancer Jan 2021 and have been on Letrozole since October 2021.  I'm really struggling just now with the flushes and wondered if anyone has been the same and has found something to take along with the Letrozole?  Can't take HRT due to type of cancer.

Doctor has suggested upping my dose of Setraline or trying gabapentone.  Just wondered if anyone else has done this or found an alternative?

TIA

Morning.  Which Doctor has made the suggestions?  Who told you that HRT might be a no-no?

Some Anti-depressant medications can ease flushing.   Of course, this early in the morning I can't remember which one  ::)

We have to remember that quality of life is important.  Some find that keeping a mood/food/syptom diary of use.

:foryou:    :welcomemm:  we talk about most things here, even menopause ;-).

A colleague has been placed on Venleflaxine as she has had breast cancer . She's managing her symptoms quite well on it- her flushes are manageable, she sleeping better and she's not wanting to punch anyone- her words not mine!
Like yourself;the oncology department have said no hrt for her.
Hope that snippet is helpful for you.

???  It is time that oncology consultants began treating ladies as people rather than statistics ???  Quality of Life is important especially having undergone such invasive treatment.  How many ladies are recalled after 12 months to speak to the oncologist?  I would like to know which statistics these professionals are working on.

How R U getting on with Letrozole Loulou?
