Everol sequi withdrawal bleed
« on: April 24, 2023, 01:06:48 PM »

Hello everyone 👋🏻 I’ve often looked through this site for advice but this is my first time posting.
I’m 53 and still in peri, after putting up with the usual horrible symptoms for ages I’ve finally been put on Everol sequi patches, been month now and apart from the first couple of weeks having the most painful boobs!😩 I haven’t had any bad side effects from starting them and I’m feeling a bit like my old self again, but I have a question about the withdrawal bleed. So I got into the 4 week of the patches and started to bleed heavily, it’s now been 10 days and it’s only just letting up, my question is basically is this normal!?🤔 I knew I’d get a bleed but i’m hoping it’s not going to be this bad every time I reach that 4th week in. The info I got with the patches isn’t very clear so any help/advice with be gratefully received!

Hi Sarnie 53.

On sequi HRT the bleed should start after you start the next pack of patches containing just the oestrogen which is why it's known as a 'withdrawal bleed' as you have stopped the progesterone containing patches. This bleed, for me, was around three days after starting the new pack. However, it also depends on your own cycle which often overrides the HRT one. What were your periods doing before starting HRT? As you become more settled onto HRT this may resolve itself. Carry on with the HRT as it takes at least three months before you know whether it is the right one for you. Once settled my bleeds only lasted four days but the initial two were heavy and painful. My cycle by then wasn't regular and the HRT cycle took over.

Let us know how you get on.
