How long does it take?
« on: April 04, 2023, 09:43:51 PM »

I'm on day five of HRT. 2xpumps in morning, 2x utrogestan at night. I started primarily for ectopic beats, which I've had constantly since January. How long does it take for this all to get into your system and make a difference (if at all). The ectopic beats are still there, not as noticeable while I'm working/busy but full force in the evening. I am honestly at my wit's end with them. Was set to head off to A&E but gave myself a talking to and told myself I've had ECG's and it's fine. The irrational part of me overides this sometimes and I panic about them, my heart's about to stop etc etc!

Im desparate for these to stop. If HRT isn't helping, what can?

It can take 3 months for hrt to have its full effect.

Are you taking 200mg of Utrogestan continuously ?

Hi Marshabookworm,

I started HRT 9 wks ago, mainly for worsening migraines and also palpitations which included ectopic beats. I am 52 and perimenopausal still having fairly regular periods. I saw a doctor specialising in menopause and she put me on 1 x pump of Oestrogel and 100mg of Utrogestan every day - the continuous is to suppress my cycle and try and stop the migraines.
My palpitations had already eased off somewhat before starting the HRT but I was still having periods of fast heart rate and still aware of what my heart was doing most of the time. It got progressively better after starting HRT and after a couple of weeks it felt completely normal and I haven't had any episodes since.
Migraines are a different story!
Hope it works for you x
