Utrogestan 100 continuous
« on: March 28, 2023, 09:18:52 AM »

Morning, I’m after some advice.  I’ve been on HRT for 25years as I had an early menopause.  I’m now 68 years old. Been on oestrogel 2 1/2 pumps daily, although I admit this was probably more like 3 1/2 daily. Started on continuous utrogestan in September had slight bleeds for a couple of months but now six months later it’s started again.  I stopped taking the utrogestan, thinking if I needed to bleed then so be it………….then I decided to go back to utrogestan 200 for a couple of nights which has stopped the bleeding but I’ve got myself so confused I don’t know where I am!  Do I go back to the utrogestan 100 and see if things settle down?  By the way,, I have gone back to 2 pumps of oestrogel a night.  Feel so confused, didn’t want to come off the utrogestan200 as I knew when to expect a bleed but my gynae said it was better for keeping the womb lining thin.

Sorry it’s been a bit of a ramble.

I think you should ask for a scan to check the bleeding isn't caused by something else.  They told me there's a slightly higher risk of endometrial cancer this way because the lining thickens before a bleed but have now accepted I'd rather take the risk than be permanently doped as utro gives me fatigue. Not sure how much research there's been though, I can't imagine there are huge numbers of meno women on sequi utro. If utro doesn't give you side effects it's a known strategy to take 200 every day to control bleeding so that may be another option.

Thankyou for replying.  I’ve just made an appointment with my gynae as my gp is worse than useless.  My appointment is next Wednesday.

Hi Sheila, do you take oral Utro 200, or vaginal? I’m currently on 100 oral nightly, but still getting some bleeds (although less heavy and shorter time after 4 months on this regime). Your advice previously has been invaluable for being armed with info and ideas at my reviews.

Hello Flossie fiddler, can I ask how long your bleeds last?  Mine has been 10 days so far and although not heavy……just wear my usual Tena pad…….. annoying. I have an appointment with a gynaecologist on Wednesday.

Since I started on it I've used it vaginally but recently it caused some irritation so the last 2 cycles have been oral. I may stick to oral now, it's quite nice not to get the mess.

Morning all. I'm 54 and post menopausal for over 5 years.  I tried different types of HRT with varying degrees of success but found my ideal in Estrogen gel with Ultroestan continuous taking one every night.  It's been really good for over 3 years, no spotting, no bleeds and no side effects of any mention.
In January this year I decided to try and shift some of the 5 year weight gain menopause has given me and began a clean eating regime with a little exercise (mainly walking and weights) thrown in.  I'm slowly losing some weight and do feel healthier but I've started having a bleed every month which has confused me.  My first was in February, another in March and just had one this month too.  I managed to get scans done yesterday and everything is fine in terms of the thickness of my lining and there are no cysts etc.  I'm now waiting to discuss with my GP/Gyny but wanted to know if anyone else has had anything similar? I'm not 100% confident in my GP as, lovely as they are,  their knowledge isn't best ever and the last time I saw the Gyny she told me I should come off HRT and use anti depressants which was the most ludicrous suggestion.
Any help would be appreciated before my appointment, knowledge is power and we are the best placed to provide it!  :)

Morning, hopefully Sheila99 will reply to you.  I think she’s on continuous utrogestan 200, but wait until you hear from her.
