Love that Clovie!
Unusual makes me feel a bit special! Thanks. Shall keep my walking boots on and carry on climbing that sodding mountain... Is it is me or is it  getting higher...?

Today is a bit of an optimistic day so I am enjoying it and Getting Things Done.

You have indeed helped my sometimes downcast mood at struggling on at my age. Am now happy to be in the unusual catergory.
Doesn't one nice word from someone do so much to help?

Best to you
Xx

Thanks for this thread! I've been worrying about having light HRT withdrawal bleeds followed by heavy ones, which my consultant puts down to my still having a natural cycle at 56. But because we're bombarded in the media by the textbook statements about meno - "average age of menopause is 52" - I'm always questioning and worrying. So anxiety- fuelling!

Hiya Slippers,

Yes so I think there are a few of us of a select vintage who just do not  fit into the meno averages... I agree, it can have have its own extra worries,  I myself am filled with anger and disappointment that all my circle of women friends my age are all ''been there, done that"  and seemingly think of periods etc as their distant past.
Like many, of any age as well, and it seems you have the same here, have the ups and downs of our natural cycles crashing with the introduced hormones of hrt.
I seriously thought would never be at this place at my age.... But I have to accept it or go mad (der) .

Just gotta hang on there, but nice to know the Vintage Group is also out there too.

couldn't do as well without the support on here I tell you.
Hugs

Take care

Hey Slippers

Yeah you're right. We are all judged by THE almighty 'textbook'.
We must conform to the average - anything outside of  that is abnormal.

Now, I'm GLAD the GP had me checked out, I'm grateful, don't get me wrong  - but for saying I'm concerned you have cancer of the womb? No. No excuse for that.
There could be MANY things causing bleeds at age 59 even if my periods HAD stopped (which they had not, but she seemed to disbelieve me) Thigs like cysts or fibroids etc which it was much likelier to be in any case. I had no other symptoms like pain or one-off spotting or random bleeding. It is always 6/7 days, starts slowly builds and ebbs away. Like a period. Because they ARE periods.  :)

Hey Poppytoast !

Now, you really are unusual  :) Not abnormal, but unusual!
How relieved you must be to have it confirmed that your periods have indeed returned!

There's so much more we don't know about the human body yet than we already do, I'm sure.
A woman knows if bleeding seems like a period or not.
I do think a lot of GPs think we are kidding ourselves.
But they should listen to us too. :)
