Morning ladies

Anyone had a really long but light period go on for weeks (3 weeks for me) and then end in a pinky/light brown discharge (1 week and counting)

Had a gap of 40 days this last time

I’m thinking I didn’t ovulate this last time so hence the really long, light, period and now the spotting at the end of it that’s just keeping on going

Will it ever end ??

Only just started to have longer gaps between

All change again, get used to one thing and then things change again  :-\

It's The Change - does what it says on the tin.  As oestrogen levels begin to drop there may not be enough hormone to empty the womb completely, this would happen to me every month.  A heavy, clotty, very painful period of 8-10 days: 3 days without then a show of brown blood.  Plus itching high up.  Then 10 days without ....... when I got into peri I would miss months of bleeds, then have a few which were 'normal' but lighter.

How do U feel otherwise?

Thanks CLKD, I feel fine in myself otherwise

First time I’ve had a really long one and it’s worried me a bit as the ‘brown’ is still going a week later  :-\

I suppose this is what happens ??

This was normal for me and is due to changing hormone levels. The gap between periods can also become really unpredictable. For three years mine varied from regular to months apart. Nine months was the longest between them.

Thanks again Taz for you advice. It really does help.

At what point did you decide to go onto HRT?

Apart from periods all over the place, the only other symptoms I have at the moment are trouble sleeping and anxiety (especially in the morning time)

Anxiety in the mornings can be caused by the cortisol [waking] hormone.  My GP gave me propranolol to take at night as I would wake terrified in the early hours  :'(  :-\

Sleeping can be caused by many reasons, especially if the brain is whizzing - mine never stops  ::)

Yes it’s the early hours and on through the morning that is the worst time for me.

I do have a lot of stress going on at the moment so my brain is non stop too.

Moving house soon and elderly parents and their health issues xx

Is there any1 that you can delegate issues to?  The more we learn to say 'no' or 'find someone else' the easier it does become.  Take it from one who had to step back .......

What support do the elderly parents have access to?  Do U live close by which makes it harder to back off, whereas our parents were 2 hours drive from us so they had to use local facilities: GP, physio., local Church for lifts etc..  Despite the moans from my mother about how 'no one visits', I found out that actually, she and Dad had regular visitors.  I was able to put a stop to that moan!   ::)

All elderly [though what elderly actually means  :o ] are entitled to a free Social Services assessment to see if they require extra aids.

I do have 2 brothers but they live 4 hours away and I’m 40 mins away so it all falls to me if they need anything

they are both physically quite capable of getting about the house, but both have suffered stokes which has affected their memory and ability to think clearly so it’s a worry that way. Like leaving the gas cooker on, things like that

They’ve not had an assessment with social services as yet xx

Get SS involved.  Sooner rather than later gives everyone breathing space to consider what might be suggested.  Sounds like they require a safety assessment if they are leaving things switched on.  Mum found  Oak Farm Foods or Wiltshire ready made meals useful, straight into the microwave from the freezer.  Ordered by phone.

What advice has the  Stroke Association given, do they get assessments from the stroke dept at the Hospital?  If your parents are involved with a Church, maybe someone would pop in for 'a chat' when they could check what was left on etc.?  As *we* age the more stressful issues might become, especially if the wrinkles are resistant to change even if they are aware that they need extra assistance.

MinL was left to deal with her parents, she would get them ready for when her 7 siblings visited so they never became aware of her struggles.

Thanks CLKD, it’s all too easy to just get on with it and not realise the stress it creates.

You are right, I should get in touch with social services, thank you

They are both awaiting memory tests and mum has an MRI appointment being sent out soon I hope. Her last stroke was only 3 weeks ago

That’s about all from the hospital

GP is quite involved and has them both in for review appointments regularly.

They both have lots of friends that visit so that’s good

It was my hot sweats (every 20 minutes day and night) rather than the bleeding that drove me to try HRT. I'd had the changes to period pattern for three years by then. I was 53. The sweats had gone within 48 hours.

That's good Curlygirl.  The more care that you delegate the better you will feel in the long run: if U take on too much for your parents, the less help you are likely to get!

Ah right ok. I’m 54 in July. Don’t suffer with the sweats yet. They hit is yet to come I’m sure x
