High oestrogen
« on: March 10, 2023, 03:59:32 PM »

Hi recently had bloods taken and have a reading of 'greater than 1881' for oestrogen. These bloods have been sent for specialist testing at another lab now because they are out of range. Anyone else experienced really high levels? Never had a reading like this before my highest was 700. Im in peri and currently use 50 patch and cyclical progesterone and testosterone, my testosterone level never seems to get above 0.8 though even though. Anyone similar? Scared its come back so high.

Just to put your mind at rest, I'm peri, I'm not on estrogen - and I had a level of 2089 in September!!! My own estrogen!

Now, I was feeling absolutely dire with this level of estrogen circulating. How do you feel???

Hi, thank you so much for the reply and reasurrance. I don't feel great to be honest. I was on 100 patch before christmas and dropped back to 50 as I didn't feel right, my mood wasn't low but quite flat as in indifferent to most things if that makes sense and various other symptoms with that dose such as headaches, low libido, bloating but my levels on 100 patch never exceeded 700ish. But since dropping back to 50 patch my mood is low, im irritable, had a few night sweats, poor sleep and really sore boobs. I don't know now if 50 patch is too much or its just a case of my own levels throwing out high oestrogen now and agian. Since my bloods my boobs have now settled and im sleeping better so im wondering if that level might have come down again. Its a constant moving target, but that level has terrified me! Luckily got a specialist appointment this week to discuss.

Hi, I can't remember what my figure was, but was told my oestrogen was so high, it would have been a problem for a 30 year old ovulating woman.

I was getting headaches, weird heart flutters (I get them anyway, but these ones were different) along with dizziness when turning my head, so walking around shops was a nightmare, looking at things etc, I had to leave the shops a LOT.  And awful postural hypotension.

I'm on a lower dose now, still got to have it checked but those symptoms are gone, thank goodness.

On my goodness. Dizziness. Yes.

I got vertigo.

Mind us all my own Estrogen. So I'm. Estrogen dominant in peri. I'm going to try detoxing it.

Although you ladies are on supplemental estrogen, its nice to hear that high E does cause the dizziness.

Hi cats4242

I'm on Evorel Sequi, so 50 estradiol for a fortnight and then 50 estradiol and norehisterone combined.  BUT on top of that I'm having a supplemental estradiol 25.

So 75 estradiol.

I always feel way better on the combined patch, so it seems I need some progesterone, so thinking of going onto evorel conti.

I was on 100 before chrirstmas and now on 50 and even on 100 never had this high a reading which is so odd. I use to be worse on the progesterone part of the cycle but now it seems to have flipped the other way and im worse on just oestrogen. I just really hope its a random spike as im reluctant to increase my oestrogen patch now but do feel like the majorty of the time I need more.

This is one of the problems, we change and our bodies change their needs.  I used to be able to tolerate the vagifem tablets but not now, horrible migraine and sensitivity to sound.  I just hope things will shift again and I'll be able to tolerate them.

Are you reluctant to increase now because you went so high before?  I wonder if a 25 supplemental patch would help if you feel you need more but don't want an extra 50.  You can even cut the supplemental patch in half and just use 12.5.  If you felt better then maybe that would give a clue.  But I understand you not wanting to raise the oestrogen in case your own rises again

Hi
Im with you on the sound sensitivity, also smell too! Yes in a way it feels counter productive to increase oestrogen when I had such high levels in my body but if that was a spike and its comes crashing down then likely I do need more, I have been considering a 75 dose, its such a balance incase it spikes again, I've become obsessed with levels! I think im getting really wild high and lows as I had night sweats, dry and itchy down below and really poor sleep for couple of weeks like my oestrogen was low. That went away and I ended up with awful sore boobs out of nowwhere like it had spiked.

cats4242, is it worth trying 75?  The thing is you can change it if you don't feel right on it, can take it down to 50 again or you can cut the 25 patch in half and be on 62.5  (lol assume the maths is correct).

Maybe other's can say more on this but I think Dr Louise Newson is less concerned with the swings because they will level out, it's more about having a consistent amount of oestrogen.  But I imagine it depends on the extent of the swings.

At the moment I'm waking too early and it's really annoying, I have to go back to sleep or be a zombie.  So I have taken sleeping pills in the early morning to get a few more hours.  I won't go back to sleep naturally and I assume it's low oestrogen because I used to find it very hard to wake up  ;D  But only a few months ago I was told my oestrogen was too high and I know it was because I was too unwell with dizziness, migraine to the point of being unable to walk out or go to the shops etc.  That's all better now.

I'm still experimenting really, which is a shame as I'm a few years into peri and probably in the start of menopause now.  I'm currently experimenting with ovestin cream too and I want to try testosterone but got to get my levels right first.

Hope you find a level that works for you  :)
