Nausea hiatus hernia
« on: February 26, 2023, 10:36:03 AM »

Hi ladies

I’m suffering with a lot of digestive issues causing nausea I also have a hiatus hernia,I’m seeing doc tomorrow to discuss

Do any of you have this, what do you take for your nausea that actually works?

I’ve tried cutting out foods but still get it. It’s mostly after breakfast but sometimes after lunchtime too.

I’ve tried ginger tea, patches behind the ear and ginger tablets. Sometimes it goes for a while then it’s back again,!

I might add I also have ms.

I so fed up right now!

I find ginger makes my hernia worse. All the things that are meant to help nausea like peppermint gives me more acid and I feel sick.

I do not leave long gaps between meals and take lansaprazole first thing then wait half an hour before having breakfast.

I hope the appointment goes well tomorrow.

Hi Flossieteacake

I’m also on lansoprazole each morning before breakfast I usually take it an hour beforehand and still sometimes get indigestion after breakfast not always but sometimes with nausea. I try to eat every couple of hours I also on Mirtazipine and wonder if this is contributing as it’s an appetite stimulant I’m always hungry and sometimes the hunger pains are unbearable. This is normally after evening meal.

I know Mirtazapine can increase appetite so you may be right there. Does it help to have a little snack when you feel hungry?

I have a hiatus hernia too so understand how you are feeling.   What dosage are you on? Lansoprazole and esomeprazole both gave me nausea but I'm on omeprazole now which is usually ok.

I too get those hunger type pains but I'm not sure what causes them. If it's after eating it can be a sign of a stomach ulcer. It might be worth asking if you could have a test for this.

I have one as well brought on by GERD.  I'm on Rapebrazole and have been for many years.  Eat several small meals throughout the day.  Try to raise the front of your bed (if u can) by 4 to 6" to elevate head.  It's very common.
