Hiya, I’m new here and hoping for some friendly advice re constant spotting..
I’m 52 nearly, have been taking HRT (many different regimes) for the past 3 years, I was originally using gel and
Utrogestan and very settled on it but when there was the supply issue 18 months ago I was swapped onto continuous HRT (patches and utrogestan) since then I have been spotting non stop….. My dr had tried upping my patch to now evorel 100 and after a referral to gyne at the local hospital my utrogestan has been upped to 200 daily…. I’m still spotting, to be honest I’ve had enough… And wondering if I should give up on it altogether….
Can anyone relate, I’ve been on the recent increase in utrogestan for 8 weeks, should I give it longer? I’ve had scans and internal exams so all seems ok……… I’m a bit confused……

As long as scans etc. are OK that's less to worry about.   :welcomemm:   How much 'spotting' is involved?  Panty liners or full pads daily?  Is it red blood or browish.

How were your periods B4 you began HRT?  It may be simple enough that your hormones are aggravated enough by the replacement therapies to cause a bleed.

I'm sure that someone will be along with advice.

Hiya, thank you for replying, I was a full 6 months clear of periods before I started HRT, genuinely I thought I was losing the plot, I was dealing with all the lovely symptoms of meno and pretty much had a breakdown, the HRT has fixed everything except the spotting…
It’s just panty liners and brown but bloody annoying…. The spotting is worse immediately after I have a number two (🤣 not sure how to describe that) and then just when I wipe… (sorry if too graphic)
I get a few days a month when it stops, there seems to be no pattern as I have kept a diary for the last year, the 200 dose of utrogestan has slowed it a little but it’s still there……. Grrrrrrrr

Hi Greenie71. If you had only been 6 months without a period when starting HRT then you could still have your own cycle going on and it is common for this to override the HRT. Conti is usually for women who have been at least one year  without a period unless you are around 53/54 when some docs will consider you to be post menopausal. I was swapped to conti at aged 55 but had constant bleeding so I asked to go back onto sequi hrt which gave me a predictable bleed. This might be a better regime for you.

You'll feel much better now you've got us lot to help and advise.  :)

Hiya, I was swapped onto conti as the doctor thought that the sequi was causing me to breakthrough bleed (between regular bleeds)  at the time I was pretty meno/HRT new so didn’t question the logic of that, I have been spotting on conti ever since… You maybe right about going back onto sequi just a different strength, I’m so confused with it all and my drs just seem to be blindly trying anything without much of a  clue….
I was hoping the gyne consultant would be better, I have a follow up in a month after the utrogestan increase in December so will wait till then but if I haven’t stopped spotting I shall suggest your idea….
It’s all such a muddle eh…..  Thank you xx
