HRT options
« on: March 01, 2023, 12:01:09 PM »

Hi all, I've been on Evorel conti patches for 6 months. I'm starting to get symptoms creeping back in such as atrophy pain & night sweats. I'm also on Metformin for diabetes type 2. Just had a phone call with Nurse practitioner as I've asked for a top up patch to see if it helps.  Nurse told me there are nothing to top up my current patches and the only other option is to change to gel & a progesterone tablet. As I said I don't really want tablets she says there's no other options & it could be a mood problem & that I have to speak to a doctor, which just made me feel hopeless.

I am sorry you were made to feel hopeless by the nurse you spoke to. Are you on localised oestrogen for the vaginal atrophy? HRT alone is not enough and VA needs targeted oestrogen which is usually a vaginal pessary or cream. It sounds like the nurse has not given you any help with managing this horrible and painful condition.

You do not have to go on tablets as there are other patches you can try. Have a look on the home page and you can find links to all the HRT preparations. How sad the nurse just said there were no other options without bothering to find out!

I was on everol conti for about 8 months and then symptoms returned.. Phoned GP.. was told the same by FEMALE GP... and was put on Kliovance tablets.. they actually did ZILCH...did give them a fair try first.. Phoned back spoke to the MALE GP... so much more understanding.. spoke about different options.. I too like the ease of patches.. So he suggested I try back on everol conti plus an additional 25 everol patch.. so increase in oestrogen but no change in the norethisterone.. Just started it on Sat... so too soon to say if its working.. I have hope tho :)
Definitely helps to have a understand GP willing to work with you.. x

Cab6….extra oestrogen should not be added to Evorel Conti as the progesterone is for a 50 patch.

You can use a 75 or a100 oestrogen patch with Utrogestan for the progesterone. X

Thank you for all your replies, think I'm going to have to try & get a gp appointment. A bit worried they will just suggest antidepressants but fingers crossed I get someone understanding.
