Hi,

I am new to the forum and so glad I found it, it has been extremely helpful already.

I am 7 weeks (tomorrow) post Total Abdominal Hysterectomy, with the other words I can hardly pronounce let alone spell, basically everything is gone.

Took a couple of weeks, but along came the night sweats, hot flushes a few more headaches than normal and the broken sleep (I always did have trouble sleeping around period time).

After a chat with my Dr I have been prescribed Lenzetto to try to see if it helps, but after reading all the blurb I am a little confused and wondering if anyone who is currently on Lenzetto can help?

Do you have to take this medication at the same time each day and does it have to be the exact same time or is there a little leeway, I am guessing it does not matter if it is day or night?

The instructions of how to administer it are ok, but it says that after it has dried for 2 minutes it should be covered, Is this a must? My early morning schedule would not be consistent so I would prefer to use the medication at night, after I shower, but usually then I jump into my nightshirt, which has short sleeves, I rarely wear anything with long sleeves, I'm usually over warm and the sweats and flushes are just making this worse. Is this going to be an issue and if so what do people use to cover it?

Is this just for an hour afterwards and then it's safe enough?

Apologies if these seem like stupid questions, I did check the forum and there was one discussion where this was mentioned, but no definitive answers, so any help would be appreciated.

Hi Tia and welcome to the forum!

No it's not mandatory that you take it at exactly the same time each day. Obviously as close to as possible is great, but I've regularly taken it in the morning and then two / three / four hours later the next day and not had any issues. Ideally you wouldn't be switching between morning and night regularly though.

As for covering it, no! I've never done that - obviously in the summer I'm not wearing sleeves! I think the intention behind that is to prevent transference (it transfering onto someone else by them touching it, eg a partner or child). Just be mindful of that when you've just applied it and you'll be fine

Thank you so much. I know as well that we have to be careful to not get it near the breast area so I will be mindful of that too.

I really appreciate you replying, I'm hoping it does something for my BP too which seems to have risen since my hysterectomy. Here's hoping!

Hi tialia, I too had a total hysterectomy although I retained my ovaries, hope you are recovering well, I don’t use lenzetto I use estrogel which is the same principle once applied, to either keep it covered or away from children, pets and males to avoid transfer this is for the first hour after application after that it should be perfectly safe and no risk of transfer I asked my consultant this very question because I have a dog and young grandkids and was worried about the risk, it’s best to apply at roughly the same time each day as this helps avoid fluctuations, but I’ve never found that an hour either way makes any difference, I use mine on an evening, I have a friend in the states who uses Evamist same product as lenzetto and she’s done really well on it following a hysterectomy and removal of ovaries , I’m thinking of moving to lenzetto as the gel is a bit of a faff , good luck hope it works well for you xx

Thank you. I'm doing ok recovery ways, wound looks good, I just wish that perhaps they spent a little more time explaining some of the things to expect following surgery.

For the first month I didn't know if the bladder pain I was experiencing was normal or if I had a UTI.

I hope the spray works too, I'm finding the lack of sleep, from waking up from the night sweats the worst. I think to myself the hot flushes aren't too bad, until I get one and then I'm thinking ok this is bloomin awful lol

I don't know if it is different with surgical menopause, is this as bad as it's going to get or is it steadily going to get worse. I'm not even sure I want to know lol One thing at a time!
