Posting things at Christmas
« on: December 14, 2024, 02:17:12 PM »

Does anyone know if a gift voucher in a Xmas card inside another envelope can be detected by post office machinery.

I’ve risked not sending something by special delivery to be covered as that just added to the cost.

I gave up giving vouchers due to the short time scale, i.e. had to be spent within 6 months on many. Also if the Company goes out of business the money is lost.  Better to send a cheque in a pretty card.

I don't think that a voucher would be seen by machinery, however .......... with the extra staff on duty  :-\.  Many years ago I sent two cheques via Royal Mail to my nephew in Cardiff at different times, neither arrived !!!!

I always put a card with any voucher in inside a brown A5 envelope so it looks like ordinary mail.

I’ve not used a cheque book for years  ;D

Just kicking myself I guess … maybe it has got there ?

I don't think any envelopes get scanned at Royal Mail's sorting office.

I now know that it got there ok.

Think that is the last time I do that though.  Might mean less angst that I seem to generate for myself over it.  Daughter has suggested emailing a voucher in the future …..but then it’s “does the recipient have a printer” ? ….eeek …

They dont need to print the voucher Minusminnie, they can just scan the barcode at the checkout.  It’s a great idea.
