Tingling sensation on my face
« on: January 15, 2023, 02:38:26 PM »

Hi all, started HRT before Xmas and have struggled with it.  Doctor put me on 100mg patch but sent my anxiety through the roof and tingling in my legs so have reduced down to a third of the patch but now have tingling in my face and feels cold in my cheeks, so fed up with it.  Has anyone else had this when starting HRT as it is scaring me, my legs feel much better but this constant cold feeling is getting me down.

I have that often, odd feelings in my face.  I don't take HRT.

It's a bit like my tinnitus: it's probably there for ages B4 I notice  ::)

I never had tingling but I did have really unpleasant side effects when I started at 50mcg patches. Agitation, anxiety, headaches, racing heart, tinnitus. I took a few months off and then restarted at 25, working my way slowly up to 37.5. No side effects at all. Perhaps you might need to try starting at a low dose and working your way up?

Hi that is what I thought, doctor asked me what i wanted to start on and said I didn’t know so she said 100mg, made me feel awful so have now cut the patch into three but perhaps still too high, never had tingling until two weeks ago 🙈 guess just need to find the right strength I think

Perhaps ask for appropriate sized patches to get the correct dose?  Or try alternate nights to give the body time to adjust?

My face is tingling or I am aware of a sensation - mainly over the trigenimal nerve area which was aggravated in the 1990s 4 no apparent reason and more recently after dental treatment.

Poor you SRJ, 100 is quite a high dose to start on! Patches come in 25, 37.5, 50 and 75 doses too, so maybe ask for one of those if you get fed up of cutting all your patches. Hopefully you will find the slow escalation of oestrogen much gentler. I wish we were warned better about possible side effects! I thought I was dying until I saw other ladies’ comments on here 🙃
