Advice needed about Evorel Sequi
« on: January 02, 2023, 12:45:56 PM »

So I have been on Evorel Sequi for about 10 months now and increased it once around 3 months ago!  For the last couple of months i have not had a bleed and when I change to the Conti patches for the last 2 weeks of the month I have noticed I feel sick in the mornings and my anxiety gets worse (am fine during the 75mg of oestrogen for the first 2 weeks) and I am also getting really low and crying a lot for no reason!  Like I said this has only started happening in the last 2 months and I don’t understand why I am feeling like this when it is the progesterone part of the cycle plus not having a period but having awful period pains and this feeling sick is horrid!  Really could do with some advice as feel a bit lost with it all and don’t want my anxiety to flare up as I am only just managing to control it with ADs

Hi how did you increase the Evorel Sequi ? x

Are you using Evorel Sequi patches ? Or using Evorel patches with a separate progesterone?

Sorry it’s hard to explain I probably did a rubbish job lol  I have 2 patches for 2 weeks of oestrogen  which is a 50mg and an additional patch of 25mg (these come in a separate box) and then 2 weeks of the conti patches

Hi if you are using two different strengths of patches…75 for two weeks and then 50 for two weeks, then you will be getting a dip in your oestrogen levels. This dip could be causing the nausea. If you need a75 patch you’d be better to change to a 75 patch all month and use Utrogestan for two weeks as the progesterone .

Thanks I just had a look at the ingredients of the conti patch and didn’t even realise that also contained oestrogen what an idiot 🤦‍♀️ you could be right I am scared about the progesterone tablets making my anxiety worse as I know it can be a bit hit and miss 🤔

There might not be enough progesterone in the Conti patch to protect your womb when using a 75 patch, so it would be best to switch to a separate progesterone. Utrogestan is a kinder progesterone than the norethisterone which is in the patch that you’re using.

Did a doctor prescribe the extra oestrogen for you ? x

Yeah she suggested the increase as I was struggling on the 50mg!  I just don’t want to feel like this for 10days of every month it’s awful and it has got worse!  I don’t even know whether it’s ok not to have had a period for the last 3 months is treat normal?  I am 49 this year….

If you need more oestrogen then you should change to a 75 all the time. Your door has prescribed you incorrectly if she has prescribed 75 for only half of a month.  Extra oestrogen should not be added to Evorel Sequi as there may not be enough progesterone in it to protect your womb.

As you go further into menopause you might start missing periods even on hrt.
