Irritable on testosterone

Hi, I've been on Testogel for a couple of weeks and I feel really wound up and irritable, all the time! Is this normal? Is it temporary? All advice and experience very much appreciated. I apply a pea sized amount per day.

It may be that the dose is far too much? Why are you using it, did the menopause specialist give advice? If it is making you jittery I would reduce to twice a week for a while to see if your mood calms. Hormone replacement therapy can be Trial and Error until the body adjusts.

I agree you should reduce the dose though reducing the amount each day or every other day if you can might be better than the same dose twice a week.

Hi, thank you for your responses. Yes it was prescribed by the menopause clinic(nhs) but they have now discharged me. I was lucky to get to them at all, I know. I've been on Oestrogel and utrogestan for two years. They've worked wonders for me but the testosterone was because my sex drive is super low and my cognition and confidence has taken a drive. I'll try half a petit pois amount. God I didn't imagine this stage of life would be so challenging.

Hi
When I started testosterone I felt really angry at everything.
I decreased the amount to 3 times a week, and at first it didn’t make a difference, but, I stuck at it and pleased I did as feel better.
I was originally on daily 0.5ml.
Best wishes

That is so useful - thank you so much. I'll try three times a week. If you don't mind me asking, what have you found it's helpful with?

Hi
Memory, it was really bad and has definitely improved.
sex drive has increased but noticed it comes and goes, but at least it’s an improvement.
Best wishes & good luck.
