Spent yesterday at Peterborough Antiques Fair - with every one worrying about the weather  ::)particularly the stlal holders.

Didn't buy much. Watched the BBC filming Bargain Hunt 'red' team.  Didn't see the 'blues' anywhere .......... met lots of like-minded people.  >sigh> tired today  ::)

I've been sorting through cupboards since last month and managed without too much trouble, to fill 8 bags with clothes so have taken down to the "Relais" bins ...... Charity collection point.  It's nice to be rid of stuff I/we've not worn in ages - wonder how long it will be before OH notices I've got rid of some of his stuff !

Spent a day in Lewes and another in Brighton last week - even went on the train between the 2 towns, a trip of 15/16 mins. but an achievement for me.  Not busy PHEW! so we got seats, the streets were buzzing and looking Seasonal.

Bought a few items, met several nice people, saw the SEA  :bounce:  ............

We buy and sell.  Usually a box of 'odds' for 1/2 things we want to keep, the rest has to be sold on.  2-day it was the United Schools Fair with Santa and everything  ::)

. Watched the BBC filming Bargain Hunt 'red' team.

This programme annoys me when they are buying at stalls, fairs etc to then go and sell at auction - seems wrong way round like trade selling back to wholesale.

It seemed strange to friends who were 'down under' a few years ago to have a BarBQ on the beach  ::)

Bargain Hunt is  :-X : fun to watch being filmed  ::) …… these programmes haven't done much for Dealers other than to make them approachable.  But the public then try to get far and above reductions 'because they see it on TV'.  However  :-X ……..

It also doesn't do the Dealers any favours when it appears that they buy something at a large amount: remembering that the items have already been through auction at least once: to be sold in auction …..

Only 1 item that I have sold has ever gone way and above  :) ……. everything else has either gone less/more than we would expect.

Yesterday - no panics  :bounce:

Hadn't thought of the impact of the programme on the dealers  - i've always haggled anyway even in shops if i can get away with it !

i used to go to auctions - not as a dealer - but it is always fun to watch them operate - someone there for everything and you get to know them - me being a woman i think they let me in once  ;D  to get a bedside cabinet at a reasonable price ! - i remember seeing one chap bidding on a couple of fold out garden chairs that didn't match at all being run up sky high by them - would have been cheaper to go to B&Q !

Usually dealers give 10% discount - we turn over tickets to see if there is a 'T' or 'N/T' on the back.

Well - it's that time of year when we put the antique fairs etc. on the calendar. Am watching a programme on BBC1 and apparently there is a centre on Loch Lomond - they are there, looking at stuff: but when we were in the area in September, we couldn't find it  :( …….. anyone got a Yellow Pages ?
