My view is that there are some people who really struggle with their gender or sexual identity and need support. There are many reasons for this and it can be very difficult to live with, often to the point of suicide. So my heart goes out to them.
However, Nicola Sturgeon's GR legislation is not universally supported by the Scots, of whom I am one. She speaks as if we are of one voice. It is the first time some MSPs in her party have seriously disagreed with legislation put forward, and the SNP is run with the tightest 3-line whip you will ever see. We are fed up with government overreach and interference in private and family life. Also, the legislation is full of inconsistencies with UK law at present because no-one thought through the implications seriously enough.
Not sure about 75% on a referendum. Think it would still be close, but it is not going to be the slam dunk Nicola thinks. This recent nonsense, plus a few other things, will have an impact. And there are many Scots who would support independence but not under the SNP.
Back to the gingerbread man! As others have said, he stems from a story and even if he didn't so what?! I will still be making gingerbread men, and snow men and calling them that!
