Hello everyone!
« on: November 08, 2022, 10:18:24 AM »

Hello!

I've already posted a few questions, sorry. I was in such a state last week I forgot to introduce myself...

I'm 48, from NI, live in Brittany in France, 3 kids, 1 husband (haha - the poor guy) and am self employed. I'm really into swimming, surfing, walking and being outside. I'm a very happy and positive person in general!

Here's the not-so-happy part:

I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's in 2012. "Just take this Lthryoxine", said my endocrinologist "and you'll be fine!". But I'm one of the few patients who are very hard to dose. It took 8.5 years to find the right dose after a long, hard struggle. I only had 1.5 years of the right dose until March 2022 when peri really ramped up a notch. So, I'm used to feeling crappy, but the wrong thyroid meds dose + peri is making me feel so ill. My peri symptoms are night sweats, palpitations, nausea, anxiety (especially mornings), very low mood, and headaches.

I'm on a progesterone-only pill because I have adenomyosis. I've been meditating daily for 4 years and do self-hypnosis when I feel really bad but that's not cutting the mustard any more so I've just started on Estradiol 0.1% (1 pump a day) but almost had to break my gyne's arm to get it (HRT is not big over here, not like at home).

The support on this forum is AMAZING, thank you so much! Thank goodness you are all here, even though I'm sorry you are going through this too. I've been reading the helpful replies and I'm touched by the kindness that flows on this forum.

All the best and may we all get to the other side as soon as possible! (There is another side right? This does go away, right?  ;D)

Morning

Welcome! This is the most supportive place to be.

Sorry you’ve struggled. It’s hard to know whether symptoms are thyroid or peri as they cross over.

Good luck with the HRT.

Thanks for your welcoming messages!

Nik2502, do you have thyroid probs? Yes, the symptoms are definitely similar but recently my night sweats have cranked up a gear and bring a whole bundle of other horrible new symptoms with them at the same time. In the 10.5 years I've been treated for Hashimoto's I never had night sweats until two years ago, when I was 46. So that's definitely peri.

But just got my TSH/T4 levels back from a test this morning and I'm underactive+++ STILL! My TSH is over 4 (I'm underactive at 3!) and my T4 is too low. I'm not surprised because I feel dreadful. I can't seem to get out of underactive despite increasing gradually. I think peri is meaning my body needs more T4. I'm a total mess! Cue another increase and finger crossing...

Anyway, sorry for moaning! Thanks for reading!

I don't have much helpful advice at the moment but I am new here too. Welcome. I agree, this site is a blessing.
