Anyone has a raised black spot on skin that's benign?
« on: November 06, 2022, 11:23:10 PM »

Hi all

Health anxiety this evening.  Full moon not helping.  ;D

I have a raised black spot about 1mm in diameter in, of all places, my pubic area.  Worried now as in the summer I thought it was a tick, but later in the day after showering and using lots of TCP I thought it had gone.  Today in the shower I realised it's still there, I could feel it raised.  So out came a mirror and it's like a hard black spot.  I feel like I could pick it off but I think it would hurt to do it.  It's not from a previous mole.

Going to the doctor's tomorrow to request it gets looked at, but wondering if anyone else has had anything like this that's turned out Not to be something worrisome like melanoma.  Due to my current fatigue and weakness I can't really scrutinise it anymore.  Or maybe I don't want to as I'm worried.  Thanks ladies  :)

Hi

Could it maybe be an ingrowing hair? I often have these on my calves and they are little dark 'lumps' under the skin where the hair is all curled up. I'm thinking that public hair, being thicker, could cause quite a hard, dark spot?

Hope the GP can put your mind at rest.

Probably as suggested an ingrowing thick hair.  Let us know how you get on.

I had one on my hairline. It just grew then got itchy. Went to the doctor's via a phone call in COVID time, sent a photo. She advised I rub face cream on it. I did this and it broke down, like lots of tiny tiny balls. Did this fora couple of days and it went. Has never come back. Doctor did send photos to specialist and they replied saying it didn't look abnormal. Hope this helps and hope you get it sorted at the doctor's.

Thanks.  Well the GP surgery wouldn't allow an econsult today.  I called, but was 1 min away from them closing to duty appointments for the day.  I told reception that the econsults will not allow me to proceed, she said she knew they stopped them as they were getting too many.

So will try again tomorrow.  Meanwhile I've got frankinscence oil and I will use that a few times today and see if it makes any difference.  Imagining if it's something like a blocked hair follicle or some other thing that needs to come out, oil will at least facilitate that.
